I had an amazing three days at the Inn at Occidental during my solo vacation recently. It was the perfect place to relax, unwind and unplug. The grounds are beautiful right now - everything is blooming and green and they do a wonderful job at keeping everything looking wonderful around the property and in the courtyard. I stayed in the Sonoma Lodge room and it looks just like the pictures on the website! It's a large room painted a bright blue, with a large private balcony. huge tub, fireplace and king size bed. All the window open to let the fresh air in too. I was in heaven. The innkeepers I chatted with while there, Jeannette and Marilyn, were very friendly and helpful as I planned my days. Breakfasts were delicious with fresh pastries, fruit, and more. I loved that Occidental is a tiny town (about 2 blocks!), and Jeannette and Marilyn recommended outstanding restaurants there and in other small towns nearby. Everywhere I drove was on two-lane roads twisting through acres of grapevines, trees, and apple orchards. It was nothing like the busier parts of Napa and Sonoma, where there's traffic and a lot of people. But wineries abound everywhere you go. I highly recommend the Inn at Occidental and can't wait to return another time soon.
