The hotel is very retro which i do love but it is almost outdated. Hard to explain but i think if you’ve been there you’d understand. The resort is so vast that it’s almost too much. Our room was literally the furthest building from the front desk which wouldn’t be terrible but you had to keep going inside and outside to get to it and we were constantly going through the rain. It felt kind of weird and dark when going to our building in the evening.
Once in we noticed there were small holes in the wall (kind of like the housekeeping carts were smashed into the walls), and our room had a very unusual scent. The room itself was clean but the smell was unpleasant. The pool and hot tub on that side of the resort were under construction so we had to go to the main pool which was fine but the hot tub was always full and real small and the walk was pretty long. I didn’t see anything posted online about the construction happening on site either.
The staff there were all amazing, everyone was helpful and I have no complaints at all about the service and location in comparison to the parks. It was fun to hear the people having fun at Volcano Bay during the day. There was always a bus ready to take you to city walk and back. That was great too.
All that said, it was affordable, had friendly staff and the shake/malt counter was AMAZING. If I had an option of staying in a different part of the resort I’d likely stay there again.
