Parque del Lago Boutique Hotel is a well-equipped hotel in a great location, making it a convenient base for exploring San José. The staff were professional, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms and facilities are well maintained and offer everything needed for a comfortable visit. The only area that could be improved is the breakfast buffet, which was somewhat average and lacked the warmth and character that the rest of the hotel provides. Overall, a pleasant stay with good value and an excellent location.

Good points, room very nice and clean. Bar and pool staff very good. Dinner OK. Amenities also good. Not so good, receptionists abrupt and unwelcoming, we were told to see the bell man to organise a lift to the airport and he just left us standing at his desk organising about 10 suitcases and then walked off to deliver them to various rooms. We went for breakfast at 05.00 as it says on room information and was told when checking out it opens at 05.30. We had a flight to catch and make our own way to the airport so no breakfast.

Undiscovered gem of a hotel near San Pedro. Pros: We were looking for a place on the lower end of the price spectrum that was a one night romantic getaway for two, that I could also use my free trip coins at toward the cost of the room. Preferably including breakfast and a swimming pool with jacuzzi 😉 Not much to ask! We booked one of the cheaper rooms on the ground floor. Before check in we took an Uber to San Pedro mall to do some essential shopping and see a movie. Then we checked in and I relaxed in the jacuzzi under the San José night sky while my husband enjoyed a full workout in the gym/weights room. TV with cable was great for my husband who enjoyed the football while I enjoyed the hot shower and relaxed in the bed afterwards. We had an amazingly comfortable sleep and a delicious breakfast in the morning of gallo pinto, fresh tropical fruits, freshly squeezed watermelon juice and hot coffee. A generous check out time of 12pm meant we had more than enough time to get our things together and leave when it suited. Cons: Not many cons at this price point and value. The guy at the desk was a bit weird when we asked him for a second glass for water as there was only one in the room but not a big deal. We also had to ask him for the TV remote. The towels were a bit small like a mini dress on me after my shower. But good quality (with a third extra towel for the jacuzzi) and high quality bed linen. It also is in a slightly rough looking neighborhood but this is not a problem if you travel to and from the hotel by Uber or use a hire car (which you can park privately inside the property). Overall impression: The other photos on trip.com and similar booking sites do not do this hotel justice - it looks far better in person. It has real character since it is a restored historic hotel from an era bygone, but that is why everything is such high quality from the bed linen to the floor tiles. Everything is also in good shape and freshly painted. There a little hidden nooks around the hotel that make it very charming. The breakfast area is lovely and the jacuzzi, pool and water slide were a real highlight. We WILL be back.

Hotel ma dobrą lokalizację, tuż obok znajduje się mały park. Znajduje się w odległości 1 kilometra od dzielnicy Chinatown, parku narodowego i Muzeum Narodowego, a wszystkie te miejsca są w zasięgu spaceru. Obsługa w recepcji była również bardzo miła; przybyłem około 10 rano i natychmiast mnie zameldowano, ponieważ były wolne pokoje. Jednak wyposażenie hotelu było stare, a ze względu na wilgotną pogodę pory deszczowej, w pokoju unosił się stęchły zapach. Wi-Fi również było fatalne… co było prawdziwym szokiem dla kogoś przyzwyczajonego do prędkości internetu w Chinach. Śniadanie w hotelu również wymaga poprawy; wybór był ograniczony i nie można było się powstrzymać – musiał obsługiwać cię pracownik. Rozmowy po hiszpańsku, chińsku i angielsku były dość uciążliwe. Jednak małe jabłka i marakuja były pyszne; południowoamerykańska żółta marakuja była bardzo słodka… Wygląda na to, że wszystkie śniadania w Holiday Inn zawierają marakuję, a peruwiańskie sieci również ją oferują.

Book only one night needed to be closed to the airport prior to leaving Costa Rica. I arrived too early to check in so I left my backpack in the storage and went sightseeing. Rooms were cleaned however my issues was with the cleanliness of the bathrooms I wish they were cleaner . Shower’s didn’t have any hooks or shelves and I didn’t have anywhere to but my stuff other then the floor. I found a very cockroach in the shower which was also gross. Bathrooms could definitely be cleaner and furniture could be less broken done. Definitely more on the budget friendly side.

sabana studios are a a great and econimal way to stay in the capital, the only thing is that its very hard to find its location as when I went they didn't have any signage as to where they are. Please find out exactly the location of the office before you got as I got a bit lost and took me asking someone to direct me. I had no internet at the time so I couldn't call .One of the friendly locals used his mobile to ask about the location and that's how I finally found it. all in all it was a positive experience.  The apartment is located close to a nice park for walking and relaxing.  there are some options for food but you need to check the surrounding area on a mmap before blindingly walking out hoping to find an area where restaurants are.

My room was clean, secure, and surprisingly quiet despite being in the city. The common areas are stylish and spacious, with a cozy on-site restaurant that serves excellent breakfast and coffee. It truly felt more like a boutique guesthouse than a typical hostel. Highly recommend for solo travelers, couples, or anyone looking for comfort and value in San José.

We had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Balmoral San José. The rooms are surprisingly spacious, which made it easy to relax in. The beds were very comfortable and we slept really well throughout our stay. One thing to be aware of is that many rooms — including all of the Superior Plus rooms — have their windows facing into a dark gap between the buildings rather than outside. This means you don’t get natural light or a view, which was a bit disappointing. That said, the staff were absolutely great — friendly, helpful, and always willing to assist. Overall, a very good hotel in an excellent central location, and we would happily stay here again.
