Hotel Iris

A great value hotel. We stayed only one night, but enjoyed the hotel's central location, on-site parking, and the gracious service. Hotel Iris exudes a wonderful faded elegance: painted ceilings a bit faded, a crumbling but functional balcony surrounded by trees and birdsong. Despite the building's age, it was very clean and the bathroom was up to date. If you want value and a**osphere, this is your hotel.

Being at the top of the hill meant walking most places was down hill. Still some places to walk up mainly to the larger piazzia. Great dining around the hotel both for breakfast and dinner. Beautiful older state house with large open area overlooking Perugia. Would stay here again

I chose Hotel Iris because it's steps away from the Partigiani bus station (where you'll likely arrive to/depart from). Very friendly and outgoing staff who make sure you're comfortable even before you arrive. The building has old charm (I loved it) and I got a big room with a view and a comfortable bed. Very nice terrace for breakfast or a coffee. The lift to go up to the Rocca is steps away (if you don't take the lift, it's also a lovely walk). Recommended!

Everything you could hope for. Great gateway to dynamic Perugia. Friendly and helpful service - nice homeliness. Clean, quiet and great value. Value simple breaksfast and bar fridge.

The first room we were offered was awful. Very dingy and scruffy with no view. Was not happy. Asked for another room higher up. Got a room on Ist floor with lovely view. This room was nicer. Much happier and enjoyed the stay. Don’t book through *******, a mix-up meant we were charged an extra €80. Not happy about this.

The Iris is so close to the wonderful escalators to the underground ancient Etruscan city, and main Perugia Piazza. The hotel has been thoroughly modernized with lovely rooms that still have have beautiful painted ceilings and original large windows with shutters. Favorite hotel in Umbria!

Me & my partner visited Perugia two weeks ago for the first time. The two brothers at reception were extremely helpful in teaching us how to navigate around the city. They also helped us buy and print out football tickets to one of the games which was a nice touch! I've stayed in many hotels around the Europe and in the UK, and never had an experience where the host is so helpful and interactive with the guests, but it was a great bonus in all! The hotel itself is in a great location. It is around 5 minutes up the escalators to the main city centre but also a little downtown to allow you to visit more authentic and rural sites! It is also right next to the bus station that takes you to different cities, which we used to go to Florence and also a vineyard for the day! The hotel is a beautiful historic building, very unique to the modern commercialised places which I personally appreciated. Was a fabulous hotel and I recommending to any travellers looking to explore Perugia in the best way possible!

We booked our travel 4 weeks in advance with Hotel Iris. Six hours after booking, we realized we made a booking error. We imediately requested a refund from Hotel Iris. They told us to, "Get a Lawyer" and refused to refund us any $. Truly sad. Do not do business with this Hotel.
