A detailed moan so you can reflect in my shoes, just a little read
I’ve travelled with my Thai girlfriend who is well spoken in English and her mother tongue Thai, Me being British knowing how to say hello and thankyou just polite as it’s enough without getting confused.
She booked to stay at Bayview Resort Phi Phi Island for 2 nights.
So from arriving at the dock,
There’s a welcome from different resorts to help direct you to each resort and Bayview have well illuminated green tops which stand out from the rest.
We saw a man (in a green illuminated top Bayview logo) and he guided us in the direction to where it was we should walk, but we ended up using Google maps to help us as the directions were very vague.
A steady long walk after of around 850m and you get to a point where in the distance you can see Bayview over the sand.
We carried our luggage (just handheld cabin size) over the sand and to the resort.
It has its own beach which is great (could have got a water boat for 100 bht)
Check in.. we was greeted with a warm welcome
My partner made the booking for this trip as a treat. (lucky me right). She spoke in Thai greeting the receptionist. The receptionist said the booking is in her name talking to me in English dismissing her… (Rude right!) I acknowledged that when he spoke in English but she was speaking in Thai no need to speak to me it’s her booking and I know that everything is okay but what is the problem with that) he added ‘can I see your details please’ then asked me about her vaccinations.
She asked ‘why are you speaking to him’ (meaning me) ‘when I’m speaking in Thai, the booking is in my name’.
He replied ‘so he can understand in English’
Now for me I was confused but I saw the frustration in my partners eyes as it’s just not the Thai way. Just because I’m British doesn’t mean you should speak on assumptions. Now I can’t speak for what he was thinking but he must have thought that I was paying for everything but it’s under her name but That’s just my opinion from the feeling we got which was awkward after getting the keys for our apartment.
So now with my now frustrated girlfriend we take a hike up, over and along a path around 400m to an apartment at the far side of the villas.
The apartment great view and clean
We have a great day out get back sleep okay but the walk is a little much (if your active and don’t mind a walk it’s okay but for children wanting to get back and rest and get cool I’d look elsewhere)
Second day we get back early around 2pm have a nap after spending the morning on a boat trip and snorkeling xyz.
About 4pm still hot AC isn’t working leaking all over the floor
The phone to contact reception is in the cupboard but not plugged in so have to take a walk back to the reception.
Me and my partner both decide to book somewhere else for the night to be more comfortable and closer to everything as walking back changing rooms then wanting to go out for dinner and walking back isn’t as much exercise we want to do we just want to relax.
Back to reception to check out, the same receptionist is there I speak with him and he says there’s no early check out form to sign but he can help with the bags over the sand.
Long story short he said there was no check out forms he is new there and there’s no one else to ask after playing about on the computer for a few minutes but the best he can do is help with the bags across the sand.
We found a much more practical hotel bigger cooler and cheaper with its own pool
Unfortunately Bayview is nice but just abit too much if your looking to chill out
If you want to be out of the way and don’t mind a hike perfect!
