San Tommaso

I think I have learnt now not to pick the cheapest hotel in an area but I do for this one. It was a bad mistake. The rooms were really quite tatty with a mixture of old and scratched furniture and we were given an attic room which caused us to bump our heads when getting out of bed. The only window was a small one small skylight. There were several bulbs out and (which was a little worrying) was that several electrical items were powered from an extension. The breakfast was actually quite ok and the staff were good But the management need to really look at doing a big refurbishment and looking at electrical safety Look at the photos I have supplied

So surprised by the good reviews, my stay was so bad it's prompted my first ever review after years of travelling. Maybe it's the single rooms that are bad? One of the worst places I've stayed at. Obviously trading off its location close to the Leaning Tower. I wasn't expecting much for just over E100 for a single room for 1 night but as a basic you expect a clean room. Opened the door to the first room they gave me to see a large chunk of plaster (the length of my hand & pretty thick) had fallen from the ceiling onto the pillow along with several smaller chunks. Although they were full they swapped me into another room (& gave that guest the original room after cleaning as I later heard someone check into that room). My room obviously hadn't been cleaned well in ages, the floor was dirty (see the pic showing the state of my socks after walking on the floor for 15 mins), the bathroom door had years of ingrained dirt, there were unfilled holes in the bathroom tiles and a huge mark along the wall where the bed had been pulled out. The rest of the room was bare and felt more like a cell with no decoration and just a couple of old and utilitarian bits of furniture. The middle legs of the bed were broken and at an angle so it didn't feel stable at all. And no noise proofing at all so I was woken by other guests coming back, waking early the next morning, reception staff talking at handover time etc.

Very clean. Extremely close to the tower and area. Great bedding and bathroom facilities. Very friendly and helpful from the moment I checked in. Gentleman at the desk was able to recommend places to eat for lunch and dinner. Breakfast was continental and nice quality. Fresh fruit. Have recommended to friends and family since returning. Was a 24 hour trip to Pisa and this was the perfect location. Tucked away ,nice and quiet.

Nothing fancy here. Very quiet, adequate breakfast, proximity to much. A staff person helped me get the suitcase up one floor to our room, greatly appreciated. I have not seen this before, but they have a sign that says do not take out breakfast food for lunch. That is fair, although I usually do it anyhow.

Brilliant traditional Italian budget hotel in the best location. The tower & cathedral are only about a 2 minute walk from the hotel. The river Arno and centre of Pisa are about a 10 minute walk. All the staff couldn’t have been more wonderful and helpful, always met with a friendly smile and happy to help with any request.
