So you’re lying on your bed and looking up at the ceiling of your 18th century room, feeling like a member of an Italian noble family. Then you get up and… realize that your tv remote control doesn’t. You report it to the owner and he promises to have a look at it. I trust people. I believe he looked at it. Unfortunately looking at things mostly doesn’t mean fixing them. The remote control never worked again. Then you want to take a shower. The shower is like a separate entity, it lives its own life in its own ways. You must understand it, it takes time. We stayed for three days only so we never managed to tame it. And don’t bother about the breakfast – a cup of coffee, a roll bought in a local shop and a short chat in Italian with the owners is probably not worth your 5 euro. Have you heard the legend about Count Ugolino, starved to death by his enemies in 13th century Pisa? They could’ve had left him with breakfast vouchers at Relais Centro Storico, the result would be the same. Is Relais Centro Storico a bad hotel? No, it has its own unique charm, the owners are very friendly and charming too. The location is great, really close to whatever is worth seeing in Pisa. Is it a top quality hotel? Surely not. But if you’d love to lie on your bed, looking up at the 18th century ceiling and feeling like a member of Italian noble family… Damnit, do you really think that members of 18th century Italian families cared about their showers and tv remote controls?
