Ace Hotel Portland

I would describe this as a hipster hotel with unique character to match the downtown area. My teenage kids did like the room and the adjacent coffee shop. However, I felt the room was a little small, especially the bathroom and the room could use some updating like more amenities like towel racks and storage for suitcases. Our room was not close to being recently remodeled so pictures can be a little deceiving. Bed was comfortable but I could hear people walking around above our room at night. I also struggled with parking found it very stressful trying to find parking, plan to spend around $40 a day on parking a day if you are driving around a lot. The overnight parking which is approx 10-15 minutes away walking distance is not on site and is only $20 a night, but it does not feel safe after 10pm to be walking around due to the homeless problem in the area. I don't think I will be returning to this hotel. I def don't feel like this was a 3 star hotel, I would give it a 2.5 out of 4 or 5 stars. The breakfast was a continental at best. Pastries with juice or coffee and fruit. Sometimes they provided yogurt or boxed oa**eal and oat milk but nothing special and get there before 9 am or there may run out of items. Portland has a lot of fun things to see but because of the homeless problem I would seek out recommendations for the best attractions and stir clear of the problem areas. Washington park and art museum were a lot of fun to visit. Multnomah Falls would be an all day trip and get there very early since parking is terrible or park off site and take tram in. I was also charged an additional fee of $25 a night which was not mentioned anywhere on the trip.com booking receipt.

Routinely little to no food during their “free breakfast”. Amenities seemed overlooked. Felt like a janky hostel made cool by hiring the merchandise designer from Urban Outfitters. Comfortable but innocuous; imagine if your hipster nephew ran a hotel… eye rolls and the silent trea**ent were complimentary.

Very friendly staff. The shower is less than desirable and needs quite a few minutes to warm up. Comfortable bed, room, and great quality. Had the option to upgrade at check in—worth it. Coffee shop in lobby is great. Don’t skip the Photo Booth.

Awesome location. Awesome vibe. Awesome rooms. Breakfast included, but was only apple, orange and OJ.

The breakfast area on the second floor was typically understocked and not refilled on a timely basis. As a result, I had to get breakfast elsewhere.

Great location for exploring Portland from a beautiful, historic hotel. Rooms are spacious and welcoming. I would definitely go back to the Ace.

Loved the ambience and vibe. Did not love the water leaky toilet and faucet the neighborhood outside is borderline sketchy so solo bar hopping is not recommended. Play it safe with a group or Uber.

This is a funky place, lots of fun. Neighborhood, sadly, had many young homeless people. But we always felt safe waking around and the Ace Hotel was central to so much in Portland. We will be staying there again.
