Grand Hotel Leon Marino Galapagos

This is the NOISEST hotel I have ever stayed ib. Thank gos there was a power cut last night as its 1130pm and all i can still hear is INCREDIBLY LOUD music constantly. Room 33 is dreadful, smells like something has died in the room. Really poor curtains so the room is so light. Deapite hanging the towels up still taken away each day massive waste of water. No fridge in the room. Breakfast if you are vegan is literally pineapple and melon. Just feels really cheap, no lamps in the rooms. No cups or glasses. I can NOT wait to leave here and get some sleep elsewhere. Beyond me why the music is so loud.

I stayed here for 2 nights as part of a group tour. This hotel looks nice from the outside, and the rooms look nice in pictures, but it ended up being very disappointing. My main issues were that there was only wifi in the reception and restaurant area, there was no wifi in the rooms at all. Other hotels that are more basic than this one on the Galapagos can manage this, so I don't know why this bigger hotel can't. The other issue was that there were ants in my room and bathroom. Another minor issue, which isn't the hotel's fault, is that there is a lot of mud in the waterfront just in front of the hotel which makes outside the hotel smell pretty bad. Other than the issues above my room was ok, the bed was comfy but the pillow was not. There was no bedside table, I used the desk stool as a makeshift one. The air conditioning worked well. The bathroom was a nice size, but the hot water was a bit temperamental. Some of the rooms are very far away from reception and require walking a lot of stairs and corridors to get to them. Breakfast was a buffet, it wasn't anything special but it was edible. The way they'd laid the tables out made things a bit awkward. This hotel has the potential to be so much better, installing wifi and controlling the ants would be a good start. Until they've done that I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

Good hotel of an interesting layout in the centre of Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz island, Galapagos. Breakfast not very tasty but good, clean rooms IF YOU AVOID the rooms that face onto the road (12 de febrero) – numbers 1 to 13 and 16A and 16B. The problem is not actually the hotel’s fault. Nearby is the Lemon and Coffee bar which doesn’t believe that anyone in the vicinity, particularly anyone in those rooms of the hotel, should sleep. I was unfortunately in room 6 on a Saturday night. Reception told me that the (booming!) music can go on until 2am (fortunately it stopped at 12.30). I was not very pleased as I had to be up at 5 am to go to Isabela island. In the end I got TWO HOURS SLEEP. So, if you want to sleep, avoid the rooms I have mentioned.
