Awful awful awful!!! The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in We were presented with the dirtiest smelly room I’ve ever stayed in It was disgusting and had to walk past piles of dirty laundry to get to it The owner couldn’t give a toss and just sat there watching the telly Food and service diabolical The breakfast was poor quality The manager needs to leave edern and visit tudweliog where The Lion know how to do the job properly Or I suggest get another job!!!

Well what can I say 💯👏👏👏👏 The staff are exceptional x I called ahead as I thought we’d arrive too late for lunch and the kitchen staff waited for us and presented us with the most beautiful bowl of soup I have ever tasted! We were shown to our immaculate room which had the comfiest pillows I’ve ever laid on We met twelve friends for dinner, each who had a different meal but ALL exceptional and brilliant service After an excellent nights sleep we sat down to a magnificent Welsh breakfast x the quality of the food was second to none! The refurb looks good and I can’t wait to visit again It has to be said that I was unfortunately booked into the woodlands in October as part of a group booking The venues cannot be compared The woodland hotel had horrendous customer service by an owner who couldn’t be ****d A filthy dirty room Awful cheap quality breakfast Journey to room was past piles of dirty linen And all for the overpriced cost of £130 The Lion cost £100 Please don’t consider anywhere else Well done The Lion 👏👏👏💯💯💯👌👍💪🤩

Came for a Chris**as Meal last night, it turned out to be a gastronomic delight, if a a Chris**as dinner could be stated as ‘Fine Dining, this scored on every factor- Value, Quantity, and Quality. The vegetables had been served imaginary, no scrimping on quantity of Meats. Between our party, we must have sampled, all that was available.No complaints. Being an ex pub tennant, I feel I am qualified to assess an experience such as this. This was by far the best dining experience I have had. For a Chris**as Meal. Factor in reasonable bar prices, everything was complete.

I’d followed this place for a while on social media and, based on the generally positive feedback, decided to give it a try for Sunday lunch. I’m sorry to say the whole experience was a great disappoin**ent. The eating area is a cross between a restaurant and cafeteria, accentuated by a sign instructing orders to be placed at the counter. We were sat at our table for a while before we noticed this sign, but no one had explained the procedure to us and I wonder how long we would have been sitting there unattended if we hadn’t been lucky enough to spot the sign. The restaurant is very family-orientated, which is fine if you want somewhere where your kids can run around and play while people are trying to eat, but not great if you’re a couple looking for a peaceful Sunday lunch. Turning to the food, I ordered the signature pan roasted rump of lamb, which I requested to be cooked pink, a request which flummoxed the young and apparently inexperienced assistant working behind the counter. A colleague then interrupted and confirmed that, yes, the lamb would be pink. However, the same person subsequently advised that they could not guarantee pink lamb as “the oven has been on all day”, to which I replied along the lines of: ask the chef not to leave it in too long then! In fact the lamb was served pink (so why all the fuss?) and was actually one of the few acceptable elements of both of our meals. The lamb was served on a mound of over-cooked potatoes, olives and sun-dried tomatoes, which were all drowning in a greasy, over-seasoned watery fluid. I’d also asked for a side of seasonal vegetables, which it transpired comprised a piece of sweetcorn, red cabbage, carrots and - bizarrely - tinned mushy peas! All of the veg were grossly over-cooked and for the life of me I can’t understand on what basis tinned mushy peas can be classed as ‘seasonal vegetables’! My wife ordered the roast pork Sunday lunch. We were not given a menu for this option, just verbally informed that the Sunday lunch was a choice of beef, pork or chicken, so we’d no idea what it was served with. It turned out that stuffing and apple source - key ingredients of a roast pork lunch - we’re not included. It came with roast potatoes that were so over-cooked and soggy that they virtually disintegrated and the whole meal was not especially warm. We tried in vain to attract the attention of a staff member to address these concerns, but there were very few of them about and, what few there were seemed intent on not looking around the room to see if anyone wanted assistance, so we accepted defeat and munched on - we were hungry! At no point in the whole visit did anyone bother to ask if we’d enjoyed our food and if everything was alright, even when I went to the counter to pay. I ascertained that it was the owner who took my payment, so I voiced my concerns to him and advised that we wouldn’t be making a return visit. Food is amazing from starters to desserts and top notch quality and the views are amazing from the outdoor terrace! Lovely friendly lady and we will be going back to try the rest of the menu today as amazing quality

Excellent holiday staff Nero’s and Nick Were very very friendly and helpful. Staff also there was very friendly and welcoming. Nerys and Nick were very good letting us use their fridge to store perishable food. It was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life commuting from Rickmansworth into London and Woodbridge into London. Hotel was so nice I’ll be back there again next year alone to do the stuff I didn’t do this time in wales.

Room 12 ,possibly the worst room ever stayed in.Damp smell pervaded bedroom and bathroom,with damp on bathroom wall.Had leak in bedroom and wallpaper hanging off,couldn’t shut bedroom window and the dirt on window sill was unbelievable.Shower old and unreliable wouldn’t hold up on riser.Paid £130 a night ,cancelled the next two nights that I had booked for and could only get in Weatherspoons hotel £60 a night and room was far superior.Oh nearly forgot had mouse scratching most of the night.

Staying locally and come to Edern every year and loved the changes at the woodlands. A beautiful outside seating area and the food is even better than I remember. A soft play area for kids with a convenient family seating room, and beautiful views

I arrived in the Woodlands Hotel for a meal with the family and we were treated so kindly by a Staff member called Nellie she was absolutely amazing she was kind and helpful. We had the most amazing delicious food there. It was nice as well to chat to the friendly locals to talk about the agriculture around and to get to know the area. Thanks so much for Nick and Nerys and all the staff for your friendly welcome we all enjoyed the stay and definitely will be there again
