Hotel Manuel Antonio Park

They have air conditioning and private rooms for very inexpensive prices. The employees are also very kind and from the patios you can see animals. It’s not the best hostel I’ve stayed in, but you get what you pay for and I appreciate that.

(English below) Si vous voulez une chambre et seulement une chambre, nous donnons alors un 3 étoiles car certaines chambres ont été rénovés, mais si vous rechercher un établissement avec du service ou de la flexibilité vous cognez au mauvais endroit! Malheureusement pour cet hôtel le personnel est clairement malheureux et peut-être mal traité par la gestion de par nos observations, mais clairement je n’avais jamais vécu une expérience comme ceci. A notre arrivée personne pour nous accueillir, nous cherchons et finalement on trouve. Le lendemain nous demandons des serviettes pour la piscine mais on nous refuse, bon ok? Un autre soir nous demandons s’il est possible de nous donner quelques fruits car notre excursion du lendemain est avant l’ouverture du resto (nous avons le petit déjeuner inclus), encore une fois impossible d’avoir même un pain! Pour combler le tout la journée de notre départ un transport vient nous chercher et la réception refuse d’aider le chauffeur. Staff very unfriendly, maybe even be poorly treated by management form what we observed. Refused to give us pool towels, refused to provide fruits or bread on the evening before an excursion (we had breakfast included), but had to leave before the opening of the restaurant. On the day of our departure, we had a transport picking us up but the staff refused to help the chauffeur when asking for us??

Older hotel and a bit tired, but only 200m from the Park entrance and 400m from the beach. Friendly and efficient Reception (Juan Carlos) who arranged our excellent park guide (Henry) and our tours, US$70 for a clean Standard room with good bed, small attached bathroom, A/C with good TV and internet, adequate breakfast. DId I mention it was only 200 metres from the park entrance?

Stayed here 2 nights as part of a guided group with Exodus. Initial impressions not good, exterior grounds are scruffy. Hotel management not very friendly, we were told we couldn’t use the chilled water at breakfast to fill our drinking bottles. My room was in a refurbished block and surprisingly good but the other single traveller in our group was allocated a dreadful room and when she complained was offered a worse one. Has a nice pool though and breakfast was good. Best thing is that it’s only 5 mins walk from the national park.

Location is convenient, just a few minutes walk from the entrance to the NP, beach and restaurants. I stayed in three different rooms as arrived with a group tour then stayed on. The double double rooms in two storey block overlooking the pool are modern and a great size with comfortable beds, and soft sheets and towels. Some are bigger than others, not sure how many price levels there are. I would recommend these rooms. The single/ lead in rooms are in need of upgrade with tiny bathrooms, less natural light, no privacy curtains and a slight whiff of sewerage. They're also closer to main road so expect traffic noise from about 7am (and with the park so near traffic is constant as are the whistles). Bed was still comfortable but my sheets were stained and towels were smaller and threadbare compared to those in newer rooms). I don't think these rooms represent good value for money and I don't recommend. Air conditioning was hit and miss. Some rooms were freezing at 24 degrees setting, others were warm at 16 degrees setting. When engineer was available along with English speaking reception issues were dealt with quickly. At other times issues waited overnight (which isn't ideal when room is too warm for comfort) Breakfast was passable, at best. Service was very mixed. The main receptionist (manager?) speaks good English and was helpful and friendly. Others were friendly enough but communication was sometimes difficult and there was an impatient edge. Owner is awful: rude, impatient, clearly only interested in personal gain. When I raised an issue she was quick to dismiss me until she realised I had been part of the tour group, when she was suddenly more interested in finding a compromise. Overall I definitely wouldn't recommend lead in rooms, and I'd be hesitant to recommend the better rooms while the service is so unreliable.

The ceiling in our bedrooms was flaking and cracked with chipped/pieces missing and needs to be repaired Commentary breakfast was flavorless with small portions. we ordered an extra fruit plates that contained small portions of fruit on it 1 banana, a couple small pieces of pineapple, some watermelon and a couple pieces of papaya and which we said we would pay for but it was way over priced for what we got. Bathroom had one small window and very dim lighting their complementary toiletries were 3 very small bars of soap and toilet wouldn't always flush unless you stood there and held the handle down. Except for 1 staff member the rest of the staff was not overly engaging Check in was slow and it is the first time I have stayed some where that we had to personally return all our towels/face clothes, used and unused, and remote to the registration desk upon check out. Sheets were clean, beds comfortable, AC worked well. Beautiful pool area although the water did look questionable and I would not take children there in the late afternoon or evening. More of an adult environment It is very close to the beach and park, lots of wildlife visitors including monkeys. Beautiful flowers and foliage, Hotel was overpriced for what it is, there are much nicer and less expensive hotels in the area.
