Hotel America

This is a bare bones, unimpressive hotel by any standard. It is not exactly dirty, but is quite worn down in the rooms. The hotel is listed as non-smoking, but my room smelled like an ashtray. The doors and walls are thin, and every sound carries because there is no carpeting in the hallways. I struggled to fall asleep because of the loud echoes from the hallway, and the patrons who could not lower their voices so as to be polite. Not the most sophisticated clientele. It offers limited amenities. Even the soap in the shower was the cheap, pink commercial stuff you see in old gas stations in the states. The internet was fine in my room. The linens were cheap, and the towels were thin and rough. The hotel offered little more in the way of amenities. When I checked in, I informed them that I needed to get to the airport early in the morning. I was assured that would be no problem. Just come to the lobby at 5am when it opens and they would happily order a taxi. “No problem.” she said. The morning employee showed up at 5:34, and didn’t open the door until 5:45. She was too busy setting up the mostly unimpressive breakfast buffet to be bothered to call a cab as I had been told. I called my own cab and left. Overall this hotel was poor. I considered leaving a one star review, but the beds were passable and the check-in agent was quite pleasant, otherwise I would have given a complete failure rating.
