Hotel Renmark

Having stayed on 2 previous occasions for work l was always telling my wife of the Renmark Hotel. So for our 30th wedding anniversary having paid for the Nanya rooms for the views the hotel took the premium paid for balcony river views but omitted to advise that a huge demountable and excavator of the construction was the view we were given. Insult to injury breakfast on the balcony was served up with the builders toilets being Kennyed and the smell was beyond palpable. Managers were to ring me back twice but nothing. Hence my review. Hotels should disclose this information.

Rooms were cheap, but absolutely not worth it!! Location is across the road from the water, but you can’t see it at all from the room! The outdoor seating was so awkward, it was just outside the front door where everyone walked and looked at you strangely! Room itself is old, rundown and needs updating! It was semi-clean but the cleanliness could definitely be improved! Easy walking distance from everything which was fine. Won’t be returning though! Not a fan at all!

As part of a 2 night River Revival deal, we stayed in a downstairs, river view motel unit and we were very pleased with our accommodation. The room was clean & is quite spacious, as is the bathroom and shower. The bed was comfortable & there is ample storage in the living area and the bathroom, too. As we found in May 2023 when we stayed here, the internet is usable, but it appears to run at ADSL2 speeds, not NBN speed - in other words, slowly. The reception staff were friendly and responsive. Even though the room wasn't serviced, we were able to get supplies when needed very quickly and easily. We would stay here again in the future and recommend it to other travellers.

Excellent dining. Plenty of options including SA produce, very tasty. Great service. Very enjoyable dining experience. In warm weather, probably lovely to eat outside. Good wine list. Reasonable prices for the quality of food and service.

Joined our family for evening meal. Excited that the new to us menu included a few vegetarian options, and after waiting nearly an hour the meals arrived. The crispy Chickpea burger lived up to its name, in that it was so crisp and dry it had the texture of a dry biscuit or cookie. The filing in the burger consisted of a stack of spinach leaves, sliced onion and a few cubes of feta. The brioche bun had no butter, relish, avocado or mayo, or any moistening factor. The whole burger was so dry it was inedible. It was sent back and a complimentary bowl of overcooked brown chips provided. The slow cooked lamb burger was a similar failure, the brioche bun had been oiled but not grilled off, and was soggy from the lamb. The chunks of lamb were tender enough but had little taste. Again there was spinach, onion and a small dob of tzatziki dressing, another dry offering. Not a pleasant meal. The waitress handled our complaint calmly offering alternatives but it was too late as the rest of the table had nearly finished their meals. The hotel has an excellent view and furnishings, but on this occasion the food did not live up to expectations.

A wonderful lunch at Temperance restaurant at the Hotel Renmark. Thanks Hugh and his team for the wonderful food and Mel for the great matched wines. Highly recommend. Worth the trip from Melbourne. Note: please check opening times and book ahead as this is going to be popular. We didn’t sample the wares of the rest of the hotel but it has been tastefully renovated and looked very inviting.

We had a wonderful dining experience at the Hotel Renmark's new fine dining offering 'Temperance'. From the welcome drinks and canapes through to the delicious main offering perfectly matched with a variety of wines our experience was fantastic. Excellent service from friendly staff and full credit to Hugh the head chef for preparing such an exciting menu. We will certainly be back.

We were interested in visiting the museum here. It is interesting to see they have set aside one floor for the museum when it is still an operating hotel. The museum was on the first floor and showed how hotel accommodation would have been in days gone by.
