The hotel was nice and in a good location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a lot about the hotel experience that I did not like. First, get real room door card keys. The electronic insert key was ridiculous. In a country with a lot of day travel and changing of clothing layers, the key was a hassle to manage and simply not a good concept. Checked into the room, and the mini refrigerator did not work. It was stocked with warm beers, cocktails, and drinks. I expect this to be found in a pre check in room check. I left a note and it was replaced when I returned. I admit, I did not need the mini fridge and did not expect one, but with there being one, I feel this is sloppy room readiness. Although I had the top room type for the hotel, I did not like the bathroom design. Toilet was behind a translucent glass door by the sink and shower open to the room. I prefer doors and not being able to see the figure of someone in the toilet. Finally, I don’t take parking as a given. The hotel has 5 spaces marked for hotel only. I was given a car park sign for the hotel. Did not expect spaces to always be available. When I checked in, the staff swore there should be a spot, but two cars were illegally parked with no hotel pass. Same happened two more days after day trips. Working this after I paid for parking does not help me. If the hotel is going to have designated and clearly posted spots for guest, monitor and enforce them. One evening the hotel van was even using a space, but the other spots were valid hotel guests. But I should not need to bring license plate pictures for the hotel to enforce their parking. Finally, I was surprised there was not even a small heating pot for water to make instant coffee in the room or coffee for guests in the lobby or bar. Just coffee with the full continental breakfast (which I had better breakfast for less price outside the hotel). I think the hotel used the “designer” concept too much and forgot about guest experience. It is in the Marriott offering, but I would sacrifice location for a better overall guest experience.
