We stayed in Superior Suite 505 at Aquamare City and Beach Hotel 12th July ’23 to 22nd July ’23. We found the hotel basic, but immaculately clean. Our suite had two rooms (one being the living area, the other the bedroom), two balconies with partial sea views and a bathroom. Amenities included towels, hairdryer, robes, slippers, a coffee capsule machine, kettle, fridge, microwave oven, and large flat screen TVs in both rooms. A disappointment with the suite were its ‘paper thin’ walls and ceilings and poor fitting balcony doors. We expected some noise as this is a city hotel, but we could hear throughout each night every pedestrian, motor vehicle, refuse collection and delivery. In the bathroom we could hear noises from the bathroom of the suite above. We reported the poor fitting balcony doors to reception but were informed this was how the doors had been fitted – the promise of a technician to attend was made, but we have no evidence if any attempt was made to rectify. The bathroom lacked a window, fan, and air freshener, so condensation very quickly accumulated, as too did odours that could only escape through the adjoining main room/living area. Our holiday was booked through British Airways that confirmed we were to stay in a Superior Suite. We were therefore disappointed we were not entitled to all the amenities listed on the Aquamare City and Beach Hotel website when staying in a Superior Suite with ‘Welcome Basket’, teas, coffee sachets, coffee capsules and toiletries not provided. These maybe trivial amenities, but it is often the small things that can make all the difference. Reception staff explained that it was not hotel policy to supply all amenities when bookings are placed through a third party. We checked and this is not specified on either the British Airways or hotel websites. We also had a problem when requesting towels for the beach. The hotel website stated, ‘pool and sea towels provided on request’. Reception staff refused to provide towels for the beach until we showed them the provision on their hotel website. At the end of the day, we noted the provision of pool and sea towels had been removed from the hotel website. We found whilst the reception staff provided information when requested for planning our days out etc, getting this information and the service we expected was like asking for crown jewels. Receptions can make a big impression on experience, unfortunately we have left with an experience the reception staff were like those ‘guarding’ the bookings of a UK General Practitioner! A further disappointment, but seemingly increasing omission by many hotels was no offer made to assist with luggage to/from our suite; this would have been really appreciated particularly for our 23:30 arrival as a result of a significantly delayed flight. Breakfast was buffet style with an excellent range of fresh and dried fruits, homemade and external supplied pastries and cakes, yogurts, and hot foods. Unlike the recep
