Manoir 1685 Saint Malo

Well this was a first - We were thrown before we even got to our room! We had pre booked a night here via a booking website as we needed a comfy room and secure parking in a friendly hotel, close to the ferry port. The reviews were mostly positive.. What a mistake, trusting the booking site reviews! On arrival we followed the signposted unmade road to the parking, then lugged heavy bags back down the road in search of reception. What a reception we got too! The young lady that answered the door was obviously in a foul mood, judging by her scowl. We introduced ourselves, the woman grunted at us and beckoned us to follow up the stairs. My wife asked how many floors to our room as she suffers from arthritis. (there is no warning about rooms being inaccessible for those with mobility issues on the booking site) She said 'two' - my wife asked (reasonably) whether it would be possible to get a room on a lower floor. This angered the already grumpy receptionist who said that if we wanted a room on floor 1, up only one flight of stairs, we would have to pay more! We explained that we would rather not pay extra and did she have a similar priced room on a lower floor.. For some reason, the receptionist lost all sense of decorum, started shouting that she would have no trouble letting the room we booked and shouted 'Out! at us pointing to the door.. We had pre paid and asked about a refund, she shouted something that sounded rude in French and ' call the booking website!' Before slamming the door. We can only say - unless you want a confrontation with rude hotel staff, avoid this place!

We booked this bed and breakfast via *********** we were told we could not arrive until after 5pm so we arrived about 6:30 Loaded down with bags we arrived at the door and encountered a surly cranky girl of about 20. There is no reception for guests. Without welcome or greetings, she started to go up the stairs. I noticed there were two sets of stairs and because I have mobility issues asked which floor we were on. She replied, the second floor. I tried to explain that I had problems with stairs and was rudely interrupted and told that I could not have a room on a lower floor unless I paid much more money. I refused, and she became aggressive with me. Shouting at the top of her voice. We did get to the top of the second set of stairs but did not get to see the room before She suddenly decided that we could not stay there. She said I can let this room no problems, you can go somewhere else. She then Banged the door in our faces and told us to phone *********** for a refund.. Well, this was the first time we ever received such disgraceful and atrocious treatment from a hotel or bed and breakfast. The young woman just had a hissy fit and refused to honour our prepaid booking. When I requested a refund she said phone *********** and literally banged the door in my face again. I did get booking to issue a refund which was not immediate as it takes up to seven days, so ended up having to pay for another hotel at a much higher price. I will be reporting this issue to the St Malo tourist body and would like to warn other travellers. I note another reviewer had a similar issue when the reception closed before they arrived. Leaving them out of pocket as well and looking for somewhere to stay late in the evening. This is not a hotel or bed and breakfast in my opinion and certainly is not professional or hospitable. *********** are aware, but are still selling this provider . Save yourself the aggravation and abuse and book elsewhere is my advice.

Clean and comfortable

Très déçus. pas de petit.déjeuner uniquement bouilloire , hôtes inexistants, réception ouverte de 17 à 20h, pas d'espace commun pourtant un beau salon est en 1e ligne sur le site, ce qui nous a fait choisir cet endroit. Donc uniquement chambre ds une maison, rien d'un manoir. Si vous cherchez un hotel typique, passez votre chemin. Seul point positif, belle chambre mais on entend les voisins du dessus marcher.

Très bon accueil ; belle décoration ; literie confortable ; très propre L’hôtel est bien situé. Le lieu est très calme. Hôtes sont très réactifs. Nous y avons passé une nuit tout à fait reposante. Merci beaucoup, nous espérons revenir bientôt.

E' un classica casa bretone, con camere bene arredate, molto spaziose e luminose, altrettanto grande il bagno. parcheggio nel giardino della casa. E' un fai da te, ti inviano un codice per aprire una cassettina di sicurezza con le chiavi della tua camera e del cancello. Ottimo.

Chambre lumineuse, cosy, agréable, grande et bien équipée manque juste un petit frigo. Wc et salle de bain séparée Parking gratuit Personnel disponible et agréable Le petit point négatif : Établissement mal insonorisé mais c'est le revers de la médaille du charme de l'ancien

Calme et tranquillité ! Vous souhaitez profiter d’un séjour dépaysant dans la cité corsaire ? Je vous recommande le Manoir 1685, vous profiterez d’une chambre spacieuse et aménagée avec goût, literie de qualité et d’un parking privé gratuit. Calme et vue sur les toits. Une escapade dépaysante. Le système de boîte à clés vous permet d’aller et venir à votre guise. L’établissement ne propose plus de petits déjeuners l’occasion d’aller le prendre en terrasse sur le port ou dans les remparts. Merci à Maud pour sa réactivité.

La literie est très bonne. Les chambres sont spacieuses. La salle de bain est grande mais il y a une baignoire un peu haute. Il ne faut pas trop regarder les détails ( il manque des poignets à la commode). Le bémol est l'absence de petit déjeuner et la présence des hôtes inexistante.
