Residence le Chamois d'Or

Our twin room was a sofa and a pull out draw with a mattress. The advertised free parking at the hotel was not available so cost us €70 for a car park instead, which was an unexpected expense. Reception would not look after our bags for 5 minutes after check out while we collected our car unless we paid them to do so. Not given our information pack when we checked in as reception couldn't find it.

Dirty. The walls and one whole side of the cupboards had brown stains. Don’t look at the floorboards-layers of grin on them. The area where the trash smelled of dead something. Dishwasher didn’t work. The light above the stove didn’t work. The place is dark. The windows let tons of air in. There is a bunk bed for people to sleep in unless you want to fold and unfold the couch every day which is uncomfortable. And the bunk beds are so uncomfortable. The knives are dull. The utensils are wood which is beyond unsanitary since wood traps all germs. It is noisy. And worst of all if you plans change and you need to leave in the middle of the night for any reason your skis are locked up and you are trapped because there is no night staff - an emergency call person- but really there should be a better way to leave than wait til 0800. Checkin took 45-60 minutes. They are totally not equipped to handle crowds. And the WiFi worked only for about 60 seconds everyday. Needed a break from life and this was not a needed break place.

Stayed in a 4-person room, which had bunk beds and a sofa bed pull out. The bathroom was compact but clean and in a good condition. Kitchenette area is well catered for in terms of plates, bowls, cutlery, glasses, cups, pots and pans. Just enough storage providing skis, boots and helmets are kept in boot rooms on 3rd and ground floor. Genuine ski out from the ground floor and 3rd floor boot rooms. Spar shop 20 m away is well stocked to allow in room dining with sufficient and not hugely over priced restaurants nearby. Shamrock bar at the front of the hotel is noisy for those at the front of hotel. Great for groups albeit limited personal space.

Great location, ski locker leads out on to slope right by the nursery slope & ESF school meet point. It is a walk away from great bars & restaurants with a supermarket right next door. The rooms however were very small, the 6-man rooms would probably fit 4 max.

This was the worst experience I have ever had. The room smelled of sewage. We got in late, we thought it might be a gas leak but after talking to the maintenance man it was clear it was just sewage. There we no other rooms in town to switch to so we hd to sleep through it. The next day they said they would Fix it or move us. They didn’t, when we got back it still smelled awful. But it was late. When we. Checked out they tried to charge us for not taking out the garbage but packing it in a bag in the room. They require you to make the beds, even though they were not made when we arrived. Do not stay here. Stay anywhere else. It’s literally there worst. 3 girls at the front were useless. The 4th in her defence was very nice and tried to deal with the situation. Avoid at all cost

I was really pleased with our choice of Le Chamois D’Or. It is ideally located near the bottom of the magic carpet and Pioneers chair lift and really is ski in/out. The room was spacious and extremely well equipped with everything you would need in the kitchen. We even had a balcony overlooking the piste. The room did not have a hairdryer so bring one (like we did) if you need that. Also, the reception staff were so friendly and helpful. The only negatives were the noise at night, lots of drunk teenagers coming down the ski slope at all hours shouting and screaming. The resort really needs to get on top of this, there is a big late night drinking culture. It’s great to have fun, but not at the cost of others who are trying to sleep. They need to fine people or bars who are disrespectful of others. The lobby and locker room is chaotic on change over day - tons of people hanging around, some sleeping on the floor, waiting for their transport. I don’t think the 10am check out helps with this! Finally, the ski locker room is small and cramped and pretty awful in the morning. There are no boot heaters or any hooks or shelves to hang boots or helmets etc. This means your skis drip water into your boots if you are not careful! Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would come again.

This was our first time staying here but we will definitely be back next year! Stayed the week over new year with 4 other families. The residence was amazing in getting us all as close together as possible. The rooms are basic but just what is needed. We had a 6 person room for the 4 of us and had plenty of space. The ski locker rooms are located in a great position so you can easily ski in/out. It is also great having a restaurant and ski rental shop located under the residence. Can’t wait to get back!

This is our 2nd time staying here, and it is fantastic. The boot room is ski in/ski out, you are 100m from the ski schools. There are fantastic extras that you dont even know you need. Like a SPAR shop, a ski hire shop, and a pub right underneath. There is also a restaurant that does take away pizzas for when you're too tired to go out. The proximity to the slopes means you can pop back for lunch every day. I would highly recommend this location, the rooms are not spacious or new, but are very clean, and you have everything you need. The staff are also super helpful

Do they not employ cleaners? You’re expected to make your bed on arrival, collect towels from the laundry room, do an inventory of the room, provide your own toilet roll because one toilet role for an entire week is clearly not enough between four men unless they all ghosty the entire week. No pillow cases? Expected to remove all your waste throughout the week and take all laundry back to the laundry room the morning of departure even if your departure time is before 8am, which is when you’re expected to return them? What do they expect you to do, sleep the night before without bedding? If you do not wish to do all of the above, they propose a cleaning option for a fee starting at €50? (See photo attached). This left our group completely perplexed as none of this was made apparent to us before our arrival. We cannot believe that for the vast sum of money each of us paid for the week we’re expected to do housework? Would not stay again.
