Best Western Hotel de La Plage

This is, I'm sure, an old historic hotel, don't know from when, that BW has refurbished, so the room was compact. We expected that and it isn't unusual in Europe. We were here for 2 nights to get 1 full day at the beach. We booked this room because we live in a land locked state and wanted a room with a sea view and balcony. The balcony and views were WONDERFUL. When we went to shower the first night the water was tepid at best altho the adjacent sink had plenty of hot water. So, jump in, wet yourself, jump out lather, jump in rinse, jump out, apply shampoo, jump in rinse. The next morning I complained at the desk and the clerk came up, tested the water several times and told me it was hot. It was never hot. I said to my wife, "This is unacceptable, we should ask for a refund." When the clerk heard this she said "I will get my supervisor." The super checked the water once and confirmed that it was cold. They offered to move us to a view less room, which we refused. A deal was worked out that just before bed we could get a key to the room across the hall to shower. Water there was HOT. Not convenient, especially for the price of the room. There was no AC, and no wash cloths. Other than the problem with the shower and the uncooperative first clerk we were satisfied with this room. Staff had good English. Reservations needed for in-house restaurant and food good. Note: when you see photos of the beach here it looks expansive. In reality, the beach is not very long. Sand is nice and there are some interesting rocks.

Very nice location, right at the beach. But that’s about it. Rooms way to small toilet fits only for a 5‘ person. Everything look worn and used. Breakfast is nice. No parking available for guest. Staff uses spaces, a no go, no alternative parking, that belongs to the hotel. There is no lobby to sit. Over all an one time experience

This hotel is lovely. Maybe a bit of tlc needed here and there, but that didn’t bother us. Room a little on the small side. We would go for a first floor room with balcony. Lovely sea view and beach. Loved watching the ships sail in and out of St Nazaire. We travelling quite a long way to get to this hotel. We’d do it again. I wasn’t aware of the Jacques Tati link until I booked. Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot. I’ve got to watch the film now. Worth a visit to this lovely little seaside village.

My email to the hotel management which was ignored: Dear Madame I am writing to you regarding the situation that happened this morning at the Best Western hotel La Plage. We were staying in the hotel and eating in the restaurant for 2 nights. This morning (30.12) we wanted to sleep a bit longer as we had a long drive ahead. At 8:30 in the morning the sewage machine arrived outside of our windows and started to make unbearable noise and smell went into the room, as windows were open during the night. It wasn’t possible to sleep or stay in the room with this conditions. We reported this to the women at the reception (she refused to tell us her name and we had to take a photo of her to identify in case if goes further). She replied that this is the restaurant and it’s not her problem. We asked to call the hotel managed - answer was no, she informed us that manager will come by 11:00. We asked to call restaurant manager and the answer was no. Then she informed us that hotel manager will not come at all. This situation is totally unacceptable - I have an agreement with the hotel to provide accommodation and it was unusable this morning. The attitude of the person was below every hospitality standards. As a proof, I have a video of the truck with the sound outside of the hotel entrance. I would be happy to share it with you. In this circumstances I refuse to pay the full cost of the accommodation and will wait for the reimbursement from your side. In addition, I am informing *********** and Best Western HQ about this situation. We are very sorry that this situation is coming to this. We tried to find the reasonable solution with the receptionist, but it wasn’t possible to get any adequate response/ support from her. In addition to this note - there were two hotel staff smoking outside of the back entrance without the masks which made it impossible to use the alternative entrance to the facility. Court séjour thérapeutique entre deux séances de kiné ostéopathe ( triple fracture malleolaire pour Mr en juin dernier). Choix de l hôtel pour sa situation ( accès plage)+ plage Mr Hulot handiplage et so cute!!!). Pas déçus! Au contraire. Très bon rapport qualité prix. Choix chambre vue mer + terrasse. 2 transats parasol serviettes de bain prêtées par l établissement. Petit déjeuner à 16 EUR certes mais rien ne manque + vue mer+ service impeccable.. st Marc s mer est un petit village charmant offrant ts les services à proximité de l hôtel. Les esprits chagrins deploreront la proximité de st Nazaire et la fréquentation parfois très métissée de la plage. Ds ce cas, se diriger vers la Baule et ses barres de béton!!! Il y en a pr tt le monde. Hâte de revenir ds cet hôtel, genre un jour de tempête d équinoxe, ça doit être juste MAGIC!! Accueil réception personnel de service au top! Merci !

Un très bel hôtel parfaitement situé. La literie est de qualité et tout le confort est mis à disposition. Nous avons apprécié les attentions : eaux, thé, gâteaux, café dans la chambre. La vue sur la mer de la suite est imprenable, on ne s’en lasse pas. Grand + au personnel absolument adorable et bienveillant qui de décarcasse pour vous offrir un séjour parfait. L’hôtel est très propre ! Et le petit déjeuner excellent. Point d’amélioration : le mobilier est vieux et mériterai d’être rafraîchi ainsi que la décoration. (Sol, peintures) Les fenêtres de la chambre étaient sales ce qui est dommage avec une vue pareille. Merci à l’équipe pour ce séjour. Nous reviendrons !
