We chose this hotel as part of a package deal with BA. The location is great, the view from the room and service staff (bell hop, cleaning team etc) we're lovely. There were definitely more cons than pros for this place. We requested a replenishment of tea, creamer and sugar which never arrived. We ordered a $7 croissant which took 45mins to arrive and even after the $6 delivery charge and 15% the bill was $24?! We sent that back. We asked the reception for some advice on a travel ticket, which was wrong. The first day we decided to try breakfast at the hotel, I strongly recommend finding somewhere else. It was almost $100 for 2 classic breakfasts (toast, egg, bacon or sausage) and some OJ, not worth the money AT ALL. When we gave our feedback on checkout, the front of house was dismissive, unapologetic and we are leaving feeling disappointed with that service. Such a shame

I booked in for 2 nights here as a solo female traveller. I had confirmation emails etc. as proof that I had booked a single room - I arrived at the hostel around 6.20pm on a Friday to find I had been placed in a large mixed dorm. The guy on the front desk was polite but totally unhelpful apparently under instruction from his manager. I offered to take any of the female dorms but was told all were sold out. I could not take the bed offered by them in the large mixed dorm, and they offered no like for like alternative. I was told that if i cancelled my stay/didn't check in I would lose my full amount paid as it was outside the cancellation period - they didn't grasp that within the cancellation period I was getting the room I booked, so it wasn't a cancellation on my behalf and was instead them not supplying what was purchased. I wasted so much time here to be offered no help while going through ********** customer support - I eventually gave up at 9:30pm when my employer forked out for a bed in another hotel for me. ********** were meant to get a full refund for me, as they failed to uphold their part of the sale, but 2.5 weeks later I've had or heard nothing from the hostel. To pay for something which is totally unavailable, with no budge room and no option for a refund, is a total scam. Do not book here as a solo female traveller as you will not be respected or safe.

We chose this hotel because of the location for getting to the trolley, a Hop-on Hop-off tour stop, the local bus system, and the nearby BART system. For this it did not disappoint. The price is reasonable, and the hotel was very clean, and the staff was very friendly. From this, I digress. The noise level during the nights, was that a very loud level. All from external. Sirens, music, loud cars and trucks going by, garbage trucks in the middle of the night, quite a bit of yelling, and the like. Normal ear plugs did not help. If you stay here, you will need some heavy duty ear plugs. We get up earlier and the hotel lobby coffee was not ready ever before 7:00 a.m. there is coffee in the room, however if you need real creamer, you'll be out of luck until 7:00 approximately. Not a terrible review, just want people to be aware.

The location is very lively, surrounded by mature commercial blocks, the biggest problem is parking. The parking lot is 30-50 dollars a night, and there is still a certain distance from the hotel. You can also park on the side of the road, but it depends on whether you want to move the car the next day. Because there are sweepers working early in the morning, you must pay attention to the time instructions on the roadside. The decoration of the room is very British style, the wallpaper is very beautiful!

Stayed here after a bad experience at a hotel down the street. Luckily found a good rate and was pleasantly surprised to be able to check in upon our arrival around 10am. Super helpful front of house staff. The room was huge for a standard room and the bathroom had great facilities. Bed was large and very comfortable, and really appreciated the walk in closet as well as fridge in the room. Location wise you are super central, with a lot of amenities like Starbucks and Walgreens just across the street. Maybe more of a SF issue than the hotel, but did feel a little uncomfortable being out in the area in the evening due to the large numbers of homeless on the streets - we saw on a few occasions people harassing guests coming in and out of the hotel, but was handled well by the reception staff. Main reasons for one star being knocked off was firstly the AC in the room. While the window was openable, it was quite unnerving to have it open on the 10th floor. We hoped the AC would compensate for this, however it would not go below a pre-set temperature level when we could’ve appreciated some cold air coming in. We did ask the front desk twice about this and they said they’d send up maintenance to manually change the limiter but unfortunately this never happened. The reception area also can become incredibly loud in the evenings with the bar having live music - there were times I could not hear the staff talking to me due to the volume. It also took a considerable amount of time to check in, at least a 10+ minutes process which began to be irritating if we had something to ask but had to wait behind large groups to check in. We also did not get bathroom amenities restocked on three occasions. These may seem like trivial issues, but for the price point of the hotel these should not be issues in the first place. Otherwise however we had a very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend.

The location of the hotel did not say that it is convenient to go anywhere, and there are many places to eat, and there are restaurants in all tastes. After all, it is an old hotel for many years. The decoration and facilities are a bit old. There is no coffee, tea or boiling water in the room. Although it is provided free of charge in the lounge area on the first floor, it is only available for a certain period of time. It was never used once during the stay anyway.

TLDR: This hotel is dated but clean, and the location is very convenient. Pros: You are 1 block from the Hilton. There are some really inexpensive restaurants (native Nepalese, Indian, Pakistani, Thai) a few blocks northwest if you are adventurous. The tourist spots and restaurants are east and north. My room was clean, well stocked with towels and toiletries, a desk, and an ironing board. The internet worked fine. The front desk agent, Joi, was very helpful. Cons: The hotel charges a “resort fee” of $25 per night on top of the booking and taxes. While it is in the Priceline fine print, it is not a good practice and in my opinion unacceptable and should be discontinued. The other con is that it can get noisy because it is an urban environment, but wear some foam earplugs (provided gratis). Warning: Also, the lift was out of order, so you will be climbing stairs with your luggage.

I totally enjoyed my stay during a 4-days at this place. The location is super convenient, take 101/130/150 to go to Union square, walk a little bit and take 19 to go to Beach Road. If you are adventurous, you can actually walk to the Downtown. I had to check in early as my flight landed a bit advance. They allowed me to early check in at a nominal fee which is totally acceptable. Also the cityscape view from hotel is amazing! I felt the place is safer, all amenities provided (ironing bed, hangers, refrigerator, iron box, coffee and tea bags… so on). I would certainly stay here again and highly recommend checking this out. Stayed here for 2 nights and was pleasantly surprised. Prices are quite affordable considering it's in San Francisco. The location was great. I booked this hotel in particular primarily because of its rather close proximity to the BART station. It is indeed only a 10-minute walk from Montgomery station, although if you're arriving from the airport be prepared to drag your bags uphill. The hotel is smack dab in the middle of Chinatown in a rather busy area. I never felt unsafe here, whether evening or early morning, as there are always people milling about minding their own business. If you like walking, you can journey to Fisherman's Wharf within 30 minutes on foot, which is what I did. You can also walk in the opposite direction toward Westfield and Target if you like to shop. There are several bus stops and tram lines nearby. As for the room, it was small but didn't feel cramped. There's no air-conditioning but it was rather chilly in July so I had no issues with heat. No problems with the shower either. Checking in and out were a breeze. I was even able to order food through GrubHub (because most restaurants in that area close at 8 pm even on weekends, which I found out the hard way!) I suppose my only complaint would be that you can definitely hear your neighbors at all times. I could hear someone stomping on the floor above, and sometimes I'd get noise from the rooms adjacent to mine. I was able to sleep just fine, though, as the bed was really comfortable. I'd changed my hotel to this one at the last minute and I'm glad I did. Apart from the occasional noise, I had a lovely stay.

Without a doubt the worst hotel experience I've ever had. The bathroom door was hanging off its hinge and could only close 90% and the shower had non-functioning blinds on the window so there was no private way to shower. The room should never have been rented to us or anyone. We booked a room for a week at The Fitzgerald for GDC 2023. First thing the room was ready an hour later than check-in time. Not a big deal, but not a great start. We are then informed that because it's a busy time we are being put in a room in the lobby, not the end of the world but it without a doubt was the worst location I've ever been in. You can hear 100% of the noise all day in the lobby meaning no comfort or privacy for you in your room. Now once we got into the room we found a few issues, some stuff had been missed for a long time while cleaning, there was a bag over the smoke alarm. The room is located on the first floor with a window looking out into the street. One of the panes was cracked leading to essentially all street noise leaking into the room 24/7. But without a doubt the biggest issue was that the bathroom door's hinges was mostly torn out of the wall meaning the bathroom door could only shut part way leaving a large gap. I can't imagine why they thought it was okay to rent a room with a non-functioning bathroom door, but it is completely unacceptable. In the bathroom you will find that the toilet is put right up against another door which also leads to the lobby, again making the use of the facilities extremely uncomfortable. There is also a window next to the shower, but the blinds are broken and can't be opened or closed and instead are just stuck halfway. When we informed the front desk, we were told that ”No one can be out there” discounting our discomfort and acting as though it wasn't an issue and seemingly thinking windows don't open, and can't generally be seen through. We asked the front desk about swapping rooms, but as it's GDC they are booked up. So instead we informed them that we will be checking out and moving to another hotel. They said ”We know the room isn't great” still standing by their view that the room is up to The Fitzgerald standards, which I have no choice but to believe it is. They then also told us that because we booked through a 3rd party instead of directly through them their hands were tied in terms of issuing any sort of refund. Looking at their website their ”Check Availability” button links directly to booking(dot)com and the ”Reservations” button links directly to hotels(dot)com so I'm assuming they are trying to funnel unsuspecting people to 3rd party sites so they can then hide behind them when someone inevitably has an issue. So on top of the issues with the room it seems like they have some scummy business practices as well. I can only recommend not to rent a room from this hotel. Sure some of their rooms might be passable, but there is a non-zero chance that they stick you in the worst room you've ever had
