La Samanna, A Belmond Hotel, St Martin

We returned again to LaSamanna and as usual she did not disappoint. Room, resort and facilities are exceptional. Service is what you would expect at a Belmond property - nothing short of fabulous. Restaurants continue to improve and it makes it hard to ever leave the property to try some of the fantastic restaurants elsewhere on the island!

Ensure that your staff is knowledgeable about what is included in a particular stay. When I arrived at the front desk, I specifically asked about the inclusions for my stay and was told that breakfast was included every morning as well as the first round of the mini-bar. However, to my dismay, I later learned that breakfast was not included and I had to pay for it on a daily basis. Although this would not have been a problem if I had been informed earlier, it was disappointing to be told otherwise. When I went to the front desk to question this, I was informed that I could not receive a refund for my breakfast purchase. This was particularly frustrating since I was only requesting a refund for the first day’s breakfast when the confusion occurred. I would have been fine covering the cost for the subsequent days myself. This experience was quite disappointing and is the reason why I am not rating you five stars.

I don’t generally write reviews, but I wanted to go out of my way to compliment La Samanna and more specifically their Spa. My wife and I have been visiting 5 star resorts for many years now and we always book massage services wherever we go. There is a young lady working here named Marlisha who is the best massage therapist we’ve ever had, and it isn’t close! She is simply wonderful. Incredible technique, highly skilled, and so professional! My wife and I booked her twice, for 80 minutes each. It was well worth it. The resort is lovely, however the rooms do need some updating. The food has been ok for the most part, better than average but not worth the price. The staff is very friendly but overall there is a lack of attention when it comes to the little details. Marlisha was definitely the highlight of our stay.

This was my third visit and it was exceptional, as were all others previously. The beach was amazing and the water was perfect.

The level of service is just out of this world. You arrive with your car, someone will grab your keys and while you check in the suitcases are already put in your room and the car parked. You enter a clean, elegant room with a mesmerizing beach view and when going for dinner they service the room, put a chocolate on the pillow, close the curtains and add your slippers next to the bed. All the amenities, such as pool, beach chairs, tennis court, gym seen recently renovated and all cushions newly upholstered. The color combinations are so well done. Furthermore the food all over the resort is splendid, from the breakfast to the lunch and dinner locations all was superb. Overall a great experience and we fully understand why this is a 5 star hotel. Thanks to all for allowing us to have such a great staycation. Oh, so many. First, I will start with Romel. Romel's strong overall positive outlook on life ensure every moment is always to be enjoyed. He asks thoughtful questions and is always accommodating. His love for La Samanna and passion about guests enjoying themselves is unmatched. He leads his team well and it is wonderful to see. The ladies at breakfast, Mili, Amy, Janiqua, and Adeline are an absolute dream team and each always made sure we were always taken care of. Allan + Maxime took excellent care of my mother, brother, sister and brother in law in the villas, and insured that their first experience in the villas was wonderful and that they thoroughly enjoyed being back at La Samanna after 23 years away. They also checked in on us as well making sure all was good which was much appreciated. Valerie, too, always pleasant to see!! Ticoh was always on top of making sure we had a ride back to our room and somehow managed to always make sure the fresh fruit infused water in the fitness was always good and fresh! Roy took good care of us at watersports and made it so easy for kids to snorkel, paddle board and kayak, and kept a watchful eye when my husband + daughter went sailing. So much fun! Wille in the garden gave us a tour and you can tell how passionate he is about the love he has poured into the garden. It is beautiful. ALL the front desk staff was so kind and helpful, and Matthias and Veronica ALWAYS happy to see us. Teddy (who I'm dubbing perhaps the La Samanna Lobby Mascot) is the cutest puppy and it was so sweet to play with him (we missed our dogs back in Florida). Pina in the boutique is so sweet and helpful and seems to have everything we needed and we bought the cutest things in the boutique! Behind the scenes, Huguette made sure reservations were taken care of and all would be prepared and good to go, absolutely wonderful! I got the biggest hug when we arrived and it was the best. Eleanore was absolutely wonderful in helping make this reunion with my family happen, as well as extending our stay for myself, my husband and our kids. Her prompt attention to detail and love of guest experience is evident. We love being greeted and saying our farewells as well as hellos at breakfast. The personal checkins are so thoughtful and a little gift at the end of our stay was the sweetest. Also, absolutely love Eleanore's and Matthias' Wardrobe Style -- every day they were in the best outfits and I love to see the personality shine through. Best place ever!!!

I've stayed at La Samanna twice already. It has been my "go-to" spot in St. Martin. The property is beautiful. The beds are super comfortable and the restaurants make really good food. The staff are the best in hospitality and you *will* miss them all once you leave to go back home. However, for me, it's "until next time". This is my permanent spot when I go to St. Martin.
