We stayed at Hotel Altamira for two night during our hike of the Camino Del Norte and took a rest day in this lovely town to see the Altamira Cave Museum. This hotel is beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Our breakfast here was one of the best in our six weeks on the Camino. Thank you!

In my occupation, I travel a lot and have to live out of a number of hotels each year. This one is very easily in the top two in my experience. It's a converted medieval palace so be prepared for thick stone walls, large wooden staircases - and no lifts! It's a superb hotel with great accommodation and food but what stands out most for me are the people that staff it. They are all so friendly and welcoming but also totally professional. I can't praise them too highly!

Stayed one night as part of camino ride. Nice interiour. Rooms spacious, bathrooms ok. No airconditioning. Rooms facing the street were noisy, both late in evenings and very early in the morning when goods were delivered. Buffet breakfast, ok.

We stayed in this hotel during our Spain road trip. It definitely didn’t meet our standard. We stayed at the family room at the top floor. Cons - Thin walls, stinky bathroom, AC doesn’t work, outside noise lasts until 2 am if window is opened. Pros - Nice deco outside and convenient location We were glad that we only booked one night and can’t wait to check out in the morning.

This hotel is a beautiful old fashioned stately home, located right near the plaza mayor. The interior is richly decorated with antique furniture and rugs. Breakfast is well stocked and plentiful. The staff is knowledgeable about nearby touristic attractions and other points of interest. Our room was on the 3rd floor, without elevator, we were happy to not have a huge and heavy suitcase.

What a pity that such a lovely setting could provide your main course with frozen chips, as opposed to fresh chips. The first course cocido wasn't that great too!!! Bonus quite good entrecote and choc desert

The Hotel Altamira is centrally located in the lovely town of Santillana del Mar. We choose to visit there in the autumn when it is a little quieter than the busy summer. The town is a great destination in itself and is excellent as a stopping place for visiting the region. In turn, the Hotel Altamira is wonderfully located. The rooms are old and full of character, the building itself is also a traveller's dream. The catering was restricted to breakfast only but this was fine, filling and plentiful. The price was also extremely reasonable. Best of all though are the people who work there. We were treated as friends of the family and nothing we asked for was a bother to them. We will definitely be booking there the next time we visit.

What an incredible place! The decor is absolutely stunning! It gave me spooky vibes from the pictures I saw but that's also the cool thing about it. It is sadly not ******* and I got a really good night sleep 🙃 Located super centrally, the breakfast buffet was alright, it had everything I needed except for decent coffee. Overall a wonderful experience!

Solo para poder ver el interior de este palacio merece la pena aloj****. Edificio del S.XVI perteneciente a Don Juan de Valdivieso. Casi un laberinto por la cantidad de escaleras y recovecos, encantador. En cada rincón un detalle. La habitación en el tercer piso, sin ascensor, la ventaja es el silencio. Para una sola persona suficiente, el baño pequeño. Las señoritas de recepción super amables.
