Hotel Matina

The rooms are clean and appropriate, good breakfast in the morning and the outside pool area is beautiful and well kept. The whole of the hotel is very clean and the staff is wonderful, super close walk to town and restaurants. Would definitely stay there again.

The Hotel Matina is clean, friendly and comfortable. Staff a welcoming from beginning and throughout providing you with good information for your stay in Santorini. With someone at the hotel 24 hours a day there is always someone on hand for guests. The hotel is immaculately clean with rooms cleaned daily. Cleaners are so friendly and polite. The pool area is beautiful and well set out with sun beds, tables and chairs. There is a pool bar for guests use. Alcohol across Santorni is expensive averaging €6 - €9 euro for a beer and €10 - €15 euro a cocktail. Breakfast served daily has a good choice available both hot and cold. Sometimes breakfast could be very busy and there was a little wait for items to be topped up. But if you ask staff for something they are very willing to help . The room (no 37) was bright and had everything you need including fridge and safe. Key sage was included and available from reception. Bathroom was compact and shower quite small but there was everything you need. Balcony was overlooking a pretty garden and had a lovely traditional feel. The hotel cats are often around and about and are very sweet but do not hassle you. They are more than happy to have a friendly fuss and are well cared for. The hotel location is set back from the road which is excellent as the road can be busy. Bring set back makes the location more peaceful and relaxing. Ancient Thera is located close by. You can take the minibus opposite the hotel for €15 euro per person and takes only 10 minutes to arrive. Beware, you will need to pay again to enter ancient Thera which is €6. To visit you need to be fully able and comfortable with heights. You will need good stable footwear as the walk is over rocks and gravel and a steep climb in parts. There are no toilets there and one expensive kiosk so take water with you. Kamari is a tourist village so be prepared for restaurants trying to coax you in and to pay tourist prices. Dana’s is the closest restaurant with good quality food at reasonable prices. The local bakery on the same street is excellent for cakes, sandwiches and pastries. The hotel also arranged airport transfers for us at €25 euro each way for 2 people. I would recommend this as good value and hassle free. Overall this is a lovely hotel to stay at, well maintained, pretty and very clean with fabulous staff. You won’t be disappointed with this hotel.

I can't say enough about how wonderful this hotel is. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, it is immaculately clean, the rooms are big and comfortable and the breakfast is sublime. It is a great value.

Close to everything, walking to the Beach. Many Restaurants around. Friendly staff good Service.

Staff were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Very clean and great facilities (shower could be better). Very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. Supply towels for pool and beach, which is a great help with packing. Would definitely stay again.

Very well kept, beautiful, clean hotel. Lovely gardens. Owners were very pleasant and spoke English. Located in a smaller, quiet area away from the larger towns, near the airport, but only a short bus ride to main sites on the island. Would highly recommend.

I absolutely loved staying here. Above all the host and staff were extremely helpful, welcoming and friendly. I travelled solo and felt extremely safe and comfortable. Room was beautiful. Shower a little small but this was a minor factor, overall I was very happy with the accomodation.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Matina. The hotel is conveniently located a short walk to the beautiful Kamari beach. The hotel has a pool and bar and is very clean. The host at the reception was very friendly and helpful, made suggestions on some great restaurants and helped us book a day trip. The breakfast is fantastic with a large variety of foods to choose from. The entire staff is very welcoming and they go above and beyond to make your stay pleasant.

This little gem of a hotel is way more than a 3-star hotel in my humble opinion. Pristine pool, excellent room, excellent customer service, lovely breakfast AND a pool bar with small lunch menu and snacks. The owner Jean-Pierre is extremely knowledgeable and will give you all sorts of useful indications (which ATMs have cheaper fees, where to take the bus, etc.). The only downside is that you need to know that you are NOT near Fiera nor Oia, where there is a lot of the action in Santorini from a vineyards, sunset, hiking perspectives. But honestly Kamari Beach has a lot to offer in itself and I would bet that this hotel price, for the quality, is probably A LOT more affordable. It was just a divine stay all in all.
