I take reviews into consideration, whether good or bad then decide for myself. In this case the hotel is clean & fresh, and the lobby is a nice place to sit by the fire, but it leaves a lot to be desired, including a friendly staff & a good night's sleep. The beds are rock hard. We tossed and turned all night. The staff barely acknowledges your presence upon arriving or anytime you enter or leave. Upon check-in I asked about restaurant hrs, etc, and the clerk responded by handing me a sheet of paper. They seem annoyed to show up to work. Our shower door was off kilter & being a 200-lb glass door, I asked if someone could check it to be sure it was safe to use. I said I didn't expect it fixed, but checked to be sure I should use it. We stayed 2 nights, plus the accompanying days and no one came to look. When I asked a second time, the clerk with the man-bun told me to, "Err on the side of caution". What does that mean? Don't shower? Just be careful? I will say, the young girl from housekeeping was a delight and she does a great job. The Boathouse is ok, and the fish and chips was so good the first day, my husband ordered it again the next night, but it was surprisingly different. It wasn't battered, more like panko breading and tasted burnt. Needless to say, we had the most wonderful brunch at Campfire, the restaurant in the Saranac Hotel, where the staff was so friendly, that should we return, we'd be sure to stay there instead of returning to The Waterfront Lodge.
