Firstly, the hotel interiors are spectacular and so is the housekeeping. The views from the pool are wonderful, but only the pool facing rooms have this view, the rest of the them have a view of building work, diggers and building rubble. The staff serving are sweet. Sadly, the rest is pretty lacking. We booked thought Jet2, who rated this place as 5* and it was in their 'lux' range. We paid a big price increase for this, compared to other hotels in the area. The staff have clearly had no training on customer service or hospitality and this really affect the experience. Eg. I ordered a coke from the bar, and was given an unopened can of coke. I had to ask for a glass. They didn't open the can, or offer ice or slice of lemon, so I might as well have just picked up a can from the shop on our way back to the hotel! There is no cocktail bar and certainly no hotel 'signature cocktail' as mentioned in Jet2 write up. There isn't even a bar list or price list for alcoholic drinks (if you ask for a price, then have to search it on the till, which makes you feel very awkward). The breakfast is EXACTLY the same every day. Eggs, a very basic salad, cheese, stale bread and some honey/jam, plus filter coffee, which is served one small cup at a time (you have to find a staff member to ask for another!). No fruit juice, fruit or yogurt, which I think are pretty basic items for even a 2* hotel breakfast. There are extras available for breakfast (though you kind of have to guess what they are as there is no menu or list), but there are chargeable and this isn't clear at all either. Other guests had ordered espressos, orange juice and fruit each day and didn't realise they would be charged for them (till I told them). There was confusion over what water was free. We, and then the Jet2 rep, were told 'water is free', but we later established the staff were referring to water in square cartons (which we never saw) and plastic bottled water at breakfast. Even though, due to this confusion, reception agreed with the Jet2 rep to waive the water charges we had, they then insisted we paid for them when checking out. When checking out, we were simply asked to pay an certain amount for extra charges. There was no print out with a breakdown and I was made to feel very akward asking for this. It took a good 10 minutes before I got the information on what this figure was made up from and for what. The thing that effected our experience the most was the very rude manager/owner who walked slowly around the public areas or stood with this arms folded, just 'watching'. With such a small hotel (only 13 rooms) most days there were only 2-4 guest around, so we would all greet each other with a hi or at least a smile. This man simply glared back if you tried to smile when coming across him. There was one morning when the single staff member serving breakfast was very busy and the owner and his partner arrived. She helped out, and her and the staff
