Pugdundee Safaris Kings Lodge

The lodge was beautiful, and the service by staff was 'exceptional'. Partha leads his team with extreme customer-centricity and dedication. The quality of food was fabulous. We were a group of 12 persons - and the chef went out of his way to customise every persons meal.

Our first stop on our Tiger Tour of Madhya Pradesh was a wonderful introduction to both this part of India and the promise of things to come. The staff were friendly, courteous and always helpful, so much so as to arrange for a "quiet" meal outside in the wonderful Garden with Braziers and clear skies it was a memorable night ***** with the ***y other experiences both at the resort and with our guide Uttam in the park. A good focus on sustainability with links to both the water and food supplies but as mentioned by ***y the Hot Water bottles were a great memory and provided both warmth and comfort at the time of year we travelled.

I went to India with a friend with the primary goal to see wildlife, especially tigers. We stayed in two Pugdundee lodges during a three week trip to India. King’s Lodge was the first and we enjoyed everything. The facilities are excellent, the rooms comfortable, and the food is very good. We also appreciated the very personal attention and interaction with everyone there from the naturalists, the lodge ***ager, the chef and waiters. Uttam, our naturalist, made the entire safari experience fun and memorable. We were impressed with his knowledge of the wildlife – he could spot the smallest bird on high branches – and even when we weren’t actively looking at animals, the drive in the jeep was a highlight. We laughed a lot, exchanged stories and had some fun conversations about different experiences. We will go back, hopefully next year.

We stayed here on the final leg of our 3 week trip to India. We were hoping to see tigers in the wild and we weren’t disappointed. As for Kings Lodge, it is the ideal place to stay. The food is delicious and the setting is perfect. I loved their efforts in sustainability and a drive to plastic free. As for our safari guide, Veer, he was outstanding. His knowledge of everything from tigers to birds to trees is unbelievable. His desire to try and find the tigers for us was heart warming. I heartily recommend this place.

We travelled to Kings Lodge as the last of a three stop tour (Tadoba Waghoba Lodge, Reni Pani at Satupa and Kings Lodge at Bandhavgarth) in April 2024. Our stop in Kings Lodge was overall very enjoyable. I’ve scored our stayed based on our lodge and not on the National Park, however, I have commented on the NP as that’s probably why you’d stay here. The Lodge itself is in its own gated complex, surrounded by bamboo with nice views. We saw images from the CCTV showing Tiger and Leopard in the lodge grounds (not at the time we were there). The main communal area is very nice, with a library, dinning room, pool, bar and an outside eating area. There was wifi throughout the lodge and in our room as well. My partner has specific food tolerances and we had sent these ahead via our agent. The Lodge ***ager brought this up during our initial meeting. The Chef did come to speak to us about this during our first meal but I think due to language issues he didn’t seem to really understand, which became obviously later. Breakfast was lovely each day out on the drives. We didn’t eat at midday as to be honest we just seemed to eat and eat. At the evening meals there seemed to be no allowance for my partners food tolerances apart from a GF roti! On one night she ended up with just a portion of rice and a portion of a potato dish on her plate whilst I had about 6 or 7 dishes. I had to ask for her to have something else and they ***aged to find some chicken. The waiters would turn up give her some food, then one of them would realise it was something she couldn’t eat and they’d just take it away and not replace it. Pugdundees lodge in Tadoba had no issues at all dealing with our basic request but Kings lodge just couldn’t deal with it. On our final day we were due to have a packed lunch and we actually had to write down what we wanted and even so we didn’t get what we asked for. When the food was served it was very nice and tasty. The lodge arranges for a local tribal dance/music group to perform at evening meal, which is a lovely way to support the local community as well as providing entertainment to the guests. Our Room (8) was on stilts and the bedroom was lovely. The AC stopped working one night and the room was very very warm. They did ‘fix’ the AC the next day but it didn’t really work very well for the rest of our stay. The bed was large and comfortable. The bathroom was however very disappointing for a 5* establishment. The top of the basin cold tap came off in my hand. The toilet didn’t flush properly, and the grout between the tiles in the shower were black with mould. There was no hot water in the shower when you turned on the hot tap so it was cold showers on the first day. We mentioned this when we went out for our first drive but were told to turn the geyser on, I thought we had but checked the next morning, yes it was on and still no hot water. Top class in every respect: The team of the lodge was extremely helpful, friendly and service oriented, the rooms were beautiful, the food was excellent and the ***agement was actively looking for opportunities on how to further improve. The engagement, the level of competence and the huge experience of the naturalist and driver made the Jeep safaris to unforgettable experiences. Thank you!

An extremely pleasant place to stay. My wife had an unexpected illness, which was handled very efficiently and sympathetically by the ***agement, and made the place special for us. It’s a shame we missed one of the game drives as a result, but those we did do were excellent. Bird guiding was also great. Just a shame there was a health issue, but it could not have been handled better by the staff

T******, lightening and heavy rain on our arrival did not da**** in anyway our welcome and experience during our Pugdundee Safaris. We had a wonderful time. Nestled in the beautiful Bandhavgarh National Park, the staff at Kings Lodge could not be more helpful. The rooms were clean, the amenities were good and the food was excellent. Special thanks to Head Chef - Nopat Singh Shekhawat. A young, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable Veer Vijay Singh Shekhawat was our Naturalist. He has a very keen eye and very good at identifying species and tracks. We had come to see Tigers and indeed we did. D1 was awesome! Thank you Vijay. It was really reassuring to witness how environmentally sensitive the lodge is. We had a truly memorable stay at the Lodge. It would be brilliant to see more female members of staff as I am sure this would only add to the whole experience.
