Landhotel Guglhupf

My wife and I spent 5 days at the family-owned Guglhupf (which means "upside down cake") , and enjoyed the experience. (Bavaria is magnificent.) We reserved a premium double room, which was spacious, well configured and extremely comfortable. (Regrettably that room didn't offer a castle view.) The bed was very nice, though a standard sized pillow would have been helpful; instead they offered a very large one and a tiny one. They, like every other German and Austrian hotel we stayed at on our trip, provide duvets rather than top sheets, spreads and blankets. There was plenty of closet and drawer space. Because the top-floor room was under the rafters, the low overhead might have been an issue for someone who is very tall, but I am 6'1" and had no problem. The room also offered a sort of mini-sauna and a separate single bed, neither of which were used. Housekeeping was immaculate. The bathroom was quite large, and offered a whirlpool bathtub as well as an enclosed compact shower. It was starting to get cool in the evenings, and the radiators were very effective. Parking was free. The staff were both welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was extensive and excellent. We were told by our local friends that parking is sometimes an issue in the area of the castles. They offered to drop us off there, and since they were committed later, they suggested that we just walk back to the hotel after completing our tours. It was an easy 25 minute hike downhill on a paved bike/walking path for most of the way, and sidewalks the rest. On a good day a hike up to the castles would be no problem for anyone who is motivated and reasonably fit. Further, we walked by a small pasture at the edge of town, and as we passed along the fence, the Bavarian Bovine Bell Choir gave us an enthusiastic (and free) concert.

We stayed here for two night and found it perfect for us, the reception is very efficient and helpful and gave us all the information that we needed. Our room was in an annexe and was both large and clean with good facilities. Breakfast was good with a good selection of choices, certainly no complaints here. One nice touch is that there is tea, coffee and cake available FOC in the afternoon and a help yourself honesty bar where you write down what you have taken. We liked the position of the hotel, it was on the outskirts of a large village/small town with open fields on one side and opposite. The Kristal Therme was within walking distance and we went there each evening and about 800 metres in the same direction a very good bar but you may need to book in advance. The castles are easily reached by both a (free) bus or by car. The only downside is that the reception closes at 17.30 so do not arrive late!

Gemütliches, schönes Hotel mit individueller Note, sehr nettem und aufmerksamen Mitarbeiter. Leckeres Frühstück. Gugelhupf gab es täglich und für jeden. Den ganzen Tag über. Wir hatten ein sehr großes Zimmer unter‘m Dach mit großem Bad, Balkon und Infrarotlicht-Kabine.

Dit hotel ligt dichtbij slot Neuschwanstein. Het hotel heeft kamers in een gebouw achter in de tuin. Daar is het rustig. Wij hadden kamer 32. Best fijn dat de ramen en deur naar buiten open kunnen. Zo ventileer je de kamer even. De badkamer heeft ook een raam die open kan. De kamer is gedateerd maar het bed ligt goed. De wifi doet het. Op de relatief kleine badkamer is een douche en een we en een kleine wastafel. Geen plek voor een toilettas. Op de kamer staat een waterkoker op een tafel met 2 eetkamerstoelen. Nadeel was dat de gordijnen niet goed sluiten. Als doorreis hotel aan te bevelen. Het ontbijt is qua kwaliteit goed. De keuze broodjes is wel beperkt. Ook weinig vers fruit. Gekookt eitje staan er en vleeswaren kaas en yoghurt met diverse soorten muesli. Meer dan jezelf in huis haalt maar voor een hotel toch iets beperkt. In de douche bleek de slang niet goed gefixeerd in de douchekop. Hierdoor brandwond opgelopen. Wel gemeld. In de gang staat een koelkast om eventuele houdbare spullen in te leggen. Ook de tulband rond 15.00 uur is bij de prijs inbegrepen.

Schönes Zimmer mit kleiner Terrasse und gutem Singlebett im ruhigen neuen Nebengebäude. Blitzsauberes geräumiges Bad und wohlig warm. Wasserkocher mit großen Porzellanbechern im Zimmer! Teebeutel gibts in der für alle Gäste 24 h geöffneten Teeküche jederzeit! Ausgezeichnetes reichhaltiges Frühstück war im angemessenen Zimmerpreis enthalten.

Sehr freundlicher Empfang, Begleitung bis zum Zimmer. Unser Irish Setter wurde ebenfalls herzlich begrüßt. Die Abreise ebenfalls sehr freundlich und unkompliziert. Wir hatten im Nebenhaus im DG ein wunderschönes großes Zimmer mit Balkon. Tolles Badezimmer mit Wirlpool. Ausgezeichnete Betten, wir haben sehr gut geschlafen. Das Frühstück war hervorragend, viele ausgesuchte Kleinigkeiten die man in größeren Häusern nie zu sehen bekommt. Sehr freundlicher Service. Man merkt hier einfach, wenn ein Hotel familier geführt wird. Ganz besonders nett, zur Kaffezeit gab es Kaffee, Tee und natürlich dem Haus entsprechend Guglhupf Kuchen. Im Gemeinschaftsraum stand ein großer Getränke Kühlschrank, wo man sich gegen Bezahlung 24 Stunden bedienen konnte. Das Hotel liegt schön gelegen vor den Türmen des Schlosses Neu Schwanstein.
