Our experience started out disappointingly and we should have taken that as a sign of things to come - we had to call 3x to verify the pool was open, and to confirm rate for New Years Eve. Was quoted 2-3 different rates by people, all higher than what we saw online. Took it anyway, just wanted to have pool for daughter to swim in and Red Lions are nice, right? Wrong. No posted sign outside unless you're driving from the North and it was sitting on the ground leaning. Dog poop on the ground welcomed guest – it was by front driveway planter where you check in and remained there our entire stay (2 nights). Room was ok, comfortable but dated. Of the 2 sink faucets, one was old and missing part of the handle and it came off when we tried to used it. The pool area especially is in dire need of an overhaul...cracked tiles, rusted window sills and dingy. Looking out our window, there was an empty lot that had piles of garbage in it. Outside had new siding (that's good...looks like work in progress). Rest of property is in dire need of updating or at least maintenance. I wouldn't have been surprised if I had seen duct tape holding something together. Had to wait for pool towels a couple of times even after several people requested them. Front desk staff was nice, but not wearing a mask at any point we went there (several times, and could also see then from pool area). This, despite a big sign on front door - "masks required" and customers wearing them. We needed an extra key at some point. and the sign on front desk said "back in 15." We waited 20 and no sign of anyone...we just needed to get into the pool area and my spouse had left to get coffee with both our keys, so we just took a key card from the checkout box, used it to get in, then put it back. Not ideal, but problem solved by an impatient 9-yr old. Signage throughout complex was mix of new and old (old Shilo Inn?). My daughter refused to shower there, said it looked dirty (it was just very outdated and stained, including moldy-looking grout). Sounds like owners need some hotel mgt. and maintenance training if they want to make a go of this hotel.
