This is a large hotel with international standards of service and international clientele. Breakfast is excellent and city views from rooms on higher floors are very attractive.

We had a wonderful stay here at Hotel Equatorial Shanghai. Hotel is easily accessible from Jing'an temple metro station. The beautiful Jing'an Sculpture park is very close. Great location in a beautiful area for shopping and food or for leisurely walking . We found many great restaurants in the nearby area. And being so close to the subway puts the entire city at your doorstep. Hotel rooms are of a classic design. Solid walls ensured great sleep with no disturbances. Beds were very comfortable. Hotel staff are enthusiastic and very helpful when we had questions. A special recognition and thanks to the master chefs and staff in the kitchen. The breakfast buffet here is amazing and not to be missed! Everyday was delicious. Highly recommend! (and keep an eye out for the hotel robot that you will see gliding around and even taking the elevators!) :-)

The hotel is well located and the staff is very nice.
However, the rooms as very dirty and run down.
There is a wide variety for breakfast but it seemed the food had been resting there for a long time.
The gym is ok.
We paid for an upgrade to an Executive room (Club Lounge access). We were told the Lounge was open for breakfast, it was not. There room was smelling to cigarettes so much, the only solution they gave us was to spray the room.
We ended up checking out 2 days earlier as it did not seem fair the price we were paying for the poor cleanliness and bad maintenance of the rooms.

This hotel has the best location, but rooms are need renovations urgently.
I stayed at this hotel in several different rooms over a 30 day period for more than 10 days. And each room has had issues. From a clogged sink drain making strange noises to a wobbly toilet seat to mold in the refrigerator to squeaky door hinges.
When I raised these issues with the front desk, a repairman was sent who said that they are aware the problem with the toilet cover and spare part is on the way. The problem will be fix when spare parts arrived. To blocked drainage it would be fixed after I checked out. He said all these so naturally as this supposed to be the right way to run the hotel.
Housekeepers are obviously contracted out with minimum training. Floor has never been vacuumed, amenities always forget to refill.

The place was kept very clean and the room was also perfectly clean everyday. the location is good, very close to the anjing temple, overall we had a great time.

The location is perfect, particularly if you are looking at the Jing'an area, which is conveniently on the 2nd Metro line between Hongqiao and Pudong. Clean, reasonably priced, and a good staff.

Place is near the metro, just that when it rains there is no cover to the hotel.
The counter staff and cleaner lady is very helper. Still worth booking this hotel!
