Hotel Calmo Chinatown

Other than the location (right in the heart of Chinatown) the hotel is totally not worth its expensive price. I stayed in 2 different rooms during my stay & the first room had bunk beds, it was horribly small that i felt like I was in a jail cell. Can't sit anywhere other than on the bed. The room is on the 2bd floor & it was super noisy from the music blasting from the vendors on the street. Impossible to get any rest. The 2nd room was an improvement being a windowless room & double bed, but still it has no where to sit other than on the bed. FYI both rooms wifi signal were terrible & TV never worked. No use informing the staffs because there's nothing they can do to help. On another note the front desk staff call Steve was very helpful & is a nice guy. You'll also need to have S$100 in cash ready for deposit upon check in.

Everything is great except for the facilities and amenities in room.

The location is in the center of the crowd. Close to and everywhere, especially food centers.

I have never stayed in such a small room for the price across the 10 countries I have visited. This room consists of a mattress on the floor in about a 6ft x 6ft space. It has a kettle/jug with a cup and 1 tea bag supplied, I hate tea so was not impressed that they didn't even have a simple coffee sachet included, especially for the price of the room. I don't know how the bathroom passed building regulations when you cannot sit on the toilet due to it being turned sideways and 6 inches from the wall, prepare to ride side-saddle if you want to use it. I am only a slim person, so if you are not a slim person you will have great difficulty in using the toilet or even having a shower. I tried to take photos of the bathroom but it is just so small I had trouble doing that. They have escalators that do not work, so be prepared to carry your luggage up stairs. They need to invest in a vacuum cleaner and a broom because you can see the floors throughout the hotel are not vacuumed and the entry foyer is not swept. It really looks like the owners don't care anymore, and are just maximizing their profits from tourists That is the impression I got, especially when there was a family demanding a refund and not happy with the hotel. If it wasn't for the above issues, this place would have got a better rating from me, but a hotel that is diminishing with no money being spent on it will always turn into something people do not rate well. I would never stay again simply due to the bathroom being so small with a toilet you have to sit sideways on to use, and escalators that do not function forcing one to have to climb the escalator stair with their luggage.

This hotel is not safe at all , with bad maintenance and a terrible environment. Most importantly, hotel PR replied as if they do not care about us and only excuses for all the concerns we raised. When we reached the room, it wasn't locked , we could open it without the key. When we left the room, it couldn't be locked. That means anybody can just walk in and break into potentially any room ! Safety hazzard. I will report this to the authorities too. The blind can't block the window facing the common corridor completely, people can peep from outside to the entrance of the toilet. The hotel also didn't mention the $100 deposit during booking, which is more than the daily rate. I was told that the debit card will take 3 months to refund the deposit. We are so afraid that they would do something bad to us, so we decided to just return the key and leave after we found out the door is forever unlocked.

This was the filthiest hotel I’ve ever stayed. I had to change my room twice! First room: TV didn’t work. Electronic Keycard didn’t work so had to use a manual key. Upon entering the room, spotted 2 spiders. Second room: Door wasn’t even locked when I entered, the electronic lock doesn’t work (ran out of batt?). That’s a security issue. Upon entering, the room smelled like rotting flesh. I literally have not smelled anything this bad in my life… There was gum stuck on the wall too. I had a headache in the 5 minutes I was in the room before the next room change. Third room was meh- dusty. Mind you, I had to go up and down 2/3rd floors multiple times before I got to finally rest. There’s an escalator in the building but it DOES NOT work. FIX IT please! Kudos to the front desk dude. Everything else…. Just terrible. And $100 deposit is crazy. We used to be regular guest to this hotel when it was still under the management of the previous owner. We go there regularly on weekend because of its good location, good service friendly staffs, clean and reasonable comfort provided. This is the first time we check into the hotel under new the management. We look forwards to a good new experience under the new management. Unfortunately, we were both very disappointed due to the following reasons which I personally thing the management to look into. 1. The mattress is very uncomfortable as we can feel the spring the moment we lay on it. The previous mattress was alot better. 2. There's cleanliness issue as there's small cockroach found in the room. 3. The room water heaters water is not hot at all. We informed the staffs and changed to another room but still there isn't any different. We ended up having to take cold shower at night. We sincerely hope the new management can look into it.

Honestly last night is not so good coz unable to get room on 3rd floor but only on 2nd floor, n the bed is just next to window without noise isolation, whole night in the middle is being annoyed by a noisy constriction work sound outside
