Do yourself a favour and head to Ammos Hotel on Skyros -- now! It truly is luxe (not only do you get a bathrobe, but they wash it everyday!), but it is also charming and chill. The staff are ready to help you with anything -- absolutely anything! -- while also remaining at a distance when need be. The food is particularly delicious, the breakfast buffet is always full of fun daily surprises and the pool area provides a quiet, refreshing mini oasis away from the beach, which is also lovely. I chose this hotel in order to participate at the Skyros Center writing retreat. Now that I know it exists, and that it is on Skyros -- itself a pretty special place -- I shall return. Thank you to everybody at Ammos. I will remember you fondly. Robyn from Canada

We spent two very pleasant days with friends at Ammos Hotel. The hotel offers boutique rooms with a modern island design. The view from our room was lovely. The breakfast was great, there were local products. The owner of the hotel was extremely kind to tell us about the history of the island and guide us on what is worth visiting.

Very low value for money (265 EUR for a family room) Family room is small and doesn’t even have a table inside for kids to draw or play. Balcony with supposingly sea view is in between walls and with terraces blocking the view. Bathroom had a sewage smell. The shower door was getting jammed and wouldn’t close Breakfast is decent but with approx 50% of the items being sugary. Room had not mosquito nets (hotel claims it’s because of local building legislation) which forced us to sleep with windows closed as otherwise mosquitos were coming in. Room was accumulating a lot of heat during the day. On the last night we chose to sleep with open windows and around 1:30am a cockroach climbed on our bed and walked on my arm. After describing the incident upon check out, the hotel didn’t have the courtesy to offer a small compensation.

Ammos hotel is divine! Neat, clean, modern, designed in Greek island style, with a lovely pool and a beach next to beach bar. The hotel is 3 minutes walk to a couple of nice local tavernas. And 5 minutes walk to Skyros town. The staff were warm and hospitable, and shared awesome tips with us. My younger boy said the breakfast was the best breakfast he had in his life - home made, cooked with local ingredients, healthy and with a great variety each day. Value for money I’d say. The only thing we regret is not staying longer. Thank you all for your hospitality. We’ll be back!

We're glad that we chose to stay at the Ammos. The owners and staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our room was very clean and nicely furbished. The pool was a very nice relaxing area to spend the sunny days. The breakfast was amazing and although we stayed in May and the restaurant was not fully opened, the Chef kindly cooked us a lovely meal of our request. My partner is coeliac and gluten free breakfast and meals were specially prepared for her. I would highly recommend staying at the Ammos to enhance your stay on the beautiful island of Skyros.

The Ammos hotel is situated among local Greek houses in Magazia, is 60 metres from a sandy beach and a 15 minute climb to Chora, the capital with the Rupert Brooke statue and castle. Chora is a hill village with lovely little individual shops and tavernas. The staff are super friendly and helpful. We had a lovely sea view room with a ceiling fan and aircon. There is a salt water swimming pool and a good restaurant . Tavernas are a walk away, many with amazing sea views. There is a small taverna in the path down to the beach which has a few daily dishes. It is easy to get vegetarian or vegan meals too. A walk away is Manos. You walk through little pathways past Greek houses and they send their way along the coast past tavernas to a pretty harbour with small fishing boats and lovely views to the hill village of Chora and the castle. Skyros is a place to go to escape. We didn’t hear one English voice all week. You can visit lovely potteries and in one you can arrange to go and see a herd of Skyrian horses. We visited Rupert Brooke’s grace ti plant a little olive tree to remember a friend whose ashes are scattered there. It is in an olive tree in the South which is uninhabited. You can take a boat trip along the West coast to the South to swim near caves, spend time on a wild beach on a small island and eat lunch onboard. We found prices very reasonable too. Breakfast at the hotel was a buffet with a great variety of things to eat including local specialities.

Very friendly people, great service! Room was exactly how we want a hotel room! Relaxing colors, clean, super comfortable bed… And what an amazing breakfast! Every day something different! Enjoyed everything ! Hi recommended if you want to visit Skyros! See you again in the future for sure!

Das Ammos-Hotel erwartet einen schon bei der Rezeption mit einem sehr lieben Labrador namens Emma. Aber nicht nur die Tiere sind sehr freundlich. Das gesamte Personal ist sehr hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend. Leider haben wir erst gegen Ende unserer Reise mitbekommen, dass das Hotel auch ein gutes Restaurant im ersten Stock hat. Ein bisschen mehr Werbung würde nichts schaden. Wir hatten ein sehr schönes Zimmer mit Ausblick auf das Meer und das Meer selbst mit einem guten Strand war nicht weit entfernt. Das ganze Ambiente des Hotels hat uns gefallen und wir können das Hotel nur empfehlen.

Un cadre magnifique vous attend, au calme.Un accueil souriant, une très belle chambre spacieuse très bien équipée. Une attention nous attendait pour notre voyage de noces. La piscine est accueillante. Le petit déjeuner ! Super, délicieux et varié. De très bons conseils vous sont prodigués, notamment pour trouver une table le restaurant étant fermé.
