Hotel Ascot Sorrento

Absolutely fantastic hotel I would recommend to anyone staying in Sorrento. Yes the rooms are a little bit old fashioned, but not as bad as most of the other hotels. The bedrooms are basic but clean. The beds weren’t the most comfortable but the location makes up for any negatives. The staff are brilliant and very friendly. Pool area is nice, relaxing and clean. Good prices at hotel bar and lots of choice. Everything walking distance, although the junction just outside is one to watch. Would definitely stay here again. We were very lucky and got an absolutely huge wrap around balcony - it was at least twice the size of the room and had sun loungers so it’s definitely worthwhile paying the small amount extra. We also found the other guests in the hotel really friendly and a lot come back every year. Breakfast is poor but only a short walk to a lovely cafe serving every patisserie under the sun! The showers in the rooms definitely need replaced as they’re only really big enough for infants. But otherwise great!!

Hotels location is at the top of the High Street very close to the centre walking distance to all restaurants bars and shops

I stayed in the Hotel Ascot from the end of August beginning of September 2023. The hotel is well located for the town and Grand Marina. Plenty of opportunity for walks, strolls and shopping. There are numerous restaurants and small markets nearby. Food in restaurants is mixed in terms of price. It seems the more you pay the less you get. But you’re spoilt for choice. Just be aware that Sunday seems to be when everyone comes out to eat. So, even early on restaurants can b e very busy. The hotel itself is quite small, with a small pool if you want a rest from sight seeing. The staff are very friendly and helpful from reception, cleaners and particularly the breakfast restaurant team. Breakfast is a little limited and fixed but there is something which should cater for everyone. Rooms are quite small. There is a small fridge and kettle in them. Storage is a little limited. Not all rooms have a balcony. Despite being on the edge of roads there isn’t that much noise to disturb you. Would I recommend to stay, yes I would. If you have come for the sight seeing Pompeii and Herculaneum are well worth a visit. They can be very hot there especially Herculaneum. If you want to visit Capri, this can be subject to weather conditions. Our trip was cancelled because the sea was too rough, even though it wasn’t that bad in the town centre.

This hotel does need updating, but our room was clean , bed comfy and plenty of storage. We also had a fridge , kettle , hairdryer,soap and shower gel. There were two usb ports but only one worked There was a great selection at breakfast, staff were very friendly and helpful. I would certainly recommend it for location.

Brilliant location and a decent breakfast. These are the only good things I can say about this hotel. Do not chose this hotel if you want to sleep. The air-conditioning did not work, so it was very uncomfortable in the night. This was probably a good thing though, as it was riddled with mould (room 116 see photo). It was also incredibly noisy, we were at the front of the hotel and were regularly woken in the night and at 6am due to traffic and police/ ambulance sirens. The tap and toilet flush were also faulty. We had a brilliant time in Sorrento, but this is a poor hotel- especially for Jet2.

This hotel is a bit tired but on the whole OK! Super position pretty much in the centre of Sorrento there is a little supermarket to the left of the hotel as you exit and a nice restaurant next to it . Sorrento is a very busy resort so expect noise and traffic!

Stayed first week in October. Arrived at 2pm and room was ready. Got probably the biggest and best room in the hotel, room 504 on the top floor with a massive terrace with 2 sun loungers and a table and chairs. Room was big with adequate storage, 2 wardrobes with drawers inside and a dressing table between. Room had a fridge, free air conditioning and a free safe. There was a usb socket in the headboard and a few other sockets in the room. The bathroom was a good size but the shower is where the hotel really needs to look at updating. It was only about 50cm2, powerful but you could hardly lift your arms to wash without bumping the doors. Breakfast was adequate with a selection of cereals, breads, jams and loads of sweet offerings and various fruits. They had two tea/coffee machines. Never waited for a table. The hotel is dated but clean with lovely staff, especially Maria at breakfast and in the bar later. Drinks and food in the hotel bar are really reasonably priced in comparison with the town. Pool was freezing as it doesn’t get the sun at this time of year. Location is perfect for accessing the town. 5 minutes on a flat walk to the pedestrianised area of Sorrento. Most trips get picked up outside the door so is perfect if you don’t want to search for a pickup location. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and if returning to Sorrento I would stay here again. The hotel is dated but clean and has lovely staff. Rooms are a bit tired and I’ve dropped one star for this and the size of the shower.

Excellent location within easy reach of everything. Ideal base. However no way a 4*. Room very small, as was the bathroom, smallest shower ever although it did work well. Considered requesting a room change on arrival late at night as very disappointed, badly in need of an update- fresh coat of paint would help! Wardrobe tiny, bed very hard. Nothing like the photo of lovely blue and cream decor. Saving grace was the outdoor terrace with own sunbeds (4th floor) with good views, when we saw the small balconies and views of the other rooms we decided to stick with what we had. However trying to relax in the sun was difficult due to the all day long drilling from the work at hotel opposite. Breakfast not great, hot dogs, hard scrambled egg and stale cakes & croissants. Hard boiled egg and toast and jam best and coffee was good. Bar reasonably priced and nice garden area. Roof terrace only has "great views" from one corner. Loved sorrento and hotel is great price and location but fed up of being disappointed by rooms provided by both tui and jet 2, who both need to revise their star ratings for advertised 4*. P.s. highly recommend sorrentino taverna for food, turn left as leave hotel, 2 mins, amazing food.

I wouldn’t say it was awful as the location was perfect which made the holiday so enjoyable. It definitely isn’t 4 star like it shows, more a three. Super clean, the rooms were cleaned every day which was a plus. I suppose it’s more on the outdated side, so if you like luxury I wouldn’t bother. The pool didn’t get any sun due to the high buildings so was FREEEEEZING. The roof terrace was a plus though, loads of sunbeds available. However, being the youngest two in the whole hotel. Quite literally a young couple going down to breakfast in their hotel, yet the whole room look and stare thinking who da hell r youuuuu?🤣🤣🤣 got asked twice by different receptionists what room we were in. So don’t go if you’re under 50, at least. Sorrento is a gorgeous city, so much to do. This hotel is perfect for those who never spend time in their room. And finally, don’t book with TUI holidays. Load of crap, transfer hour and half late, receptionists no help shrugged me off when I asked if they could contact anyone. Slay the day away ✌🏻
