The Balnoon Inn with Rooms

Probably the worst place I have ever stayed, stinking dirty looked like it hasn’t been cleaned for months, bed was too dirty to even consider sleeping in, room full of damp, dead flies everywhere! When i approached the staff to complain I was told the place was clean, tidy and they didn’t see a problem! Ruined my weekend completely avoid like the plague!!

Just a great place to stay. Nothing was too much trouble (Thanks to Chris) The location is ideal. Its a place you hope to find and you'll always be prepare to recommend. The breakfast was good and always cooked how we like it. No problem with parking. St Ives is only 10 min away and all the other main places can all be reached within 1 hour drive.

If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of St Ives town centre then this is for you. At about 2.5 miles from the town Centre I would recommend you came to the Balnoon Inn by car. Plenty of parking space. You can use the Park and Ride of the St Ives Rugby football grounds (£6/d) and take the shuttle into town (£2.50/pp). The Balnoon Inn has a pleasant interior, the staff is friendly, efficient and accommodating. Chris is a lovely host and does a really nice breakfast. Room #1 is pleasantly adjusted with a comfortable bed and tea and coffee. Two let downs though. 1) A broken double glazing window which makes the room humid with some traces of mould on the blind and doors 2) A shower cubicle with toilet no bigger than 2ft x 7ft. Not a great showering experience. Ok you don’t spend your life in the bathroom/toilet but still a bit more comfort for the price was expected.

Well, where do I start! There was mould on the tiles above the cracked outdated pink shower tray and no shower curtain. A pink toilet with a white seat and cover, a total mish mash. Shower electrics were not compliant with regulations. An old wooden toothbrush holder (no doubt full of germs). The tea/coffee wooden tray thing looked dirty, and not a material that can be cleaned properly for the next guest/s (the same goes for the toothbrush holder! The wardrobe was coming away from the wall. The kettle was near an extension lead. Bedsprings sprung when we turned in bed. My partner had booked for two nights but we left after one night, we wouldn't stay any longer. Breakfast was nice enough but we weren't given any milk for the table for our hot drinks. The day we arrived there was only one young lady working the bar, waitressing and also trying to check us in! The Manager eventually showed us to our room. We left our complaints and advised them I wanted my money back, we never heard anything from them until we emailed them one week later. We only got £85 back after paying about £140 per night (there abouts). Their replies were totally unprofessional. I would not touch this place again with a barge pole. Its such a shame because it looks lovely from the outside. So pleased I took photos.

At the Balnoon Inn atm and we are very pleased with it all. Driven past so many times meaning to visit and we are so glad we did today. The roast carvery was exceptional, great selection, lovely atmosphere, very friendly and happy staff, really reasonable price and treated our son like family, the lovely manager even came out and let him feed the fish in the pond. Definitely recommend and we will be back for sure.

We booked The Lime Kitchen at Balnoon and asked them to prepare a meal for our wedding anniversary! Darren created a fantastic sharing platter. He catered for all tastes. The food quality was to the highest standard.He made our anniversary extremely memorable.I would highly recommend booking The Lime Kitchen if you enjoy excellent quality. Darren was extremely professional, friendly and took our food tastes into account before creating a wonderful meal. Thank you so much for this amazing memory!

Visited the Balnoon on our latest trip to Halsetown and as ever was a lovely visit . Not sure why they have been getting so many negative reviews of late but we do like to moan in the U.K. yes we had to wait a bit longer for our food , yes there was only 1 member of staff at the bar - but the young lady was very helpful and had to deal with quite a few people all turn up at once and order food at the same time . A challenge for anyone and chef on a quieter night. Food was lovely , pipping hot and well cooked . Service was perfect . Will defo visit again

Superb Sunday lunch at the Balnoon, St Ives, today. Booked for 12.30 with warm welcome from friendly staff, lovely table, clean and spacious. Gorgeous tasty food, you could have all 3 meats, with a range of hand prepared fresh vegetables, tasty gravy and sauces. The lady even carried my plate to my table as it was hot and did not pick up enough serviettes. Asked if our food was alright soon after we began our meals and spoke with us when we finished- wonderful meal, wonderful staff, wonderful experience- delightful! Thank you for great time- strongly recommended.

Do not bother! No hospitality what so ever, smells of mould, the main lady that runs the place is extremely rude, so many other places in St Ives which are nicer that here, charges more than it’s worth!
