Gallows Point Resort

Nisha is the absolute best! I have never had an issue with this hotel. The staff is always at the front desk. The site, hotel and rooms are clean. If you love waffles they have a waffle maker, delicious breakfast bar, and coffee station. It is a safe and affordable place to stay.

Staying in Cruz Bay at Wharfside Village (very nice, will give a positive review.). Called Gallows Point to ask if my wife and I could stroll up for a drink in their bar, got a long windy speech about how they normally don’t allow that, but they happen to have some open tables this evening, and might make an exception, but I needed to understand that they really are making a very special accommodation to accept our patronage,. Circular repetitive conversation until I just gave up. Strange way to run a hospitality business.

This is docJCM again. Back at Gallows Point after at least 6 visits in last 12 years. I have not won the 100 million lottery yet, but I still hope to. Still best place to stay in Cruz Bay. Beautiful views, easy walk to town. We will be back in the future.

I am extremely disappointed to have to alert travelers to an overall negative experience I recently had during my stay. Gallows Point has always been an absolute favorite spot of mine for 20+ years. I have stayed more than 10 times in all the different kinds of units and have stayed many times before and after Irma... First of all REFUSE UNITS 8&9. They don't guarantee units, but I would highly advise against these units which I feel should be at a different price point (and nothing at Gallows is actually inexpensive). While all the other units whether harbor side or ocean side are truly water front 9 my previous experience)- these units 8&9 are actually POOL front with a view. The pool has "peaceful pool" rules, and I've always found it tranquil. However, not only do units 8 & 9 have more of an OBSTRUCTED VIEW due to the pool- if the pool is NOT peaceful- neither is your unit and neither is your privacy. When I arrived (holiday week) there were at least 5 children playing loud games, splashing and screaming in the pool (to the point where no other guests could actually even enter the pool). I politely asked for a different unit- any unit (although I paid top holiday dollar for an ocean view upper) and was told with complete disdain "no". I accept that a holiday week might be full but the attitude was actually truly anxiety provoking. After 4 days of no peace at the pool or the unit- I requested that perhaps the management could remind the families of the posted rules. Same rude attitude. The families finally departed, and I asked again to change units as the holiday was over and the resort was much emptier. Again, awful and rude responses. I still love St John. I actually still love Gallows Point- and its great location- yet my sister and our friend- first timers said they'd never come back. Not sure if I will...

My husband and I are eagerly anticipating our return to Gallows, prompting me to share our exceptional experience from our first visit in August 2022. This property has rightfully earned its numerous 5-star reviews. The beautifully maintained grounds are conveniently located within walking distance of Cruz Bay, and the staff is courteous and professional, striking the perfect balance between attentiveness and respect for guest privacy. The accommodations at Gallows are comfortable and well-equipped, providing a homely feel that is more akin to a condo than a resort, which we found refreshing. The thoughtful amenities such as the small food store, car rental, laundry facilities, filtered water, coolers, and chairs are an amazing touch and cuts back on the need for additional rentals and taxis. Our visit during the off-season gave us the delightful impression of having the entire place to ourselves, with minimal encounters with other guests over our 5-day stay. We initially considered a different, more budget-friendly property for our upcoming visit in March 2024. However, we quickly realized that the value offered by Gallows justifies its premium price. No other accommodation on STJ combines the comprehensive amenities of Gallows with the convenience of proximity to Cruz Bay. Our stay at the Westin with our toddlers in August 2023, while enjoyable, simply didn't compareWe found ourselves gazing longingly at Gallows in the distance, yearning to return. I am confident that no other place could provide the same exceptional experience. The owner of a number of the units, Richard from Suite St. John, was easy to work with and I felt he went above and beyond to accommodate us as return guests.

Gallows Point resort is wonderful! So happy my cousin and I chose this for our vacation! Beautiful views, store/rental car convenience, our room was so clean and comfortable. The restaurant had delicious food and great service. All of the staff here were friendly and took great care of us. We absolutely recommend this resort for your stay in St. John's. And their location is perfect!

Time for a new toaster. It only heats up the bread. Does not toast. Loved the pool and scenery from our room was perfect! Great time!

Just finished a Labor Day weekend stay at the resort. It was wonderful. Very clean, great facilities, amazing pool. Very short distance from the center of town and short drive to the main beached like Trunk Bay, Maho, etc. Thank you for a great stay!
