I stayed at Hotel Okaan for two nights and absolutely loved every minute of my stay. I had a 3 day business trip in Cancun and knew I wanted to see Chichen Itza, and find some time to relax, at the end of those 3 days. I read a TON of reviews of other hotels in Cancun, Tulum and the Piste area outside Chichen Itza before settling on Hotel Okaan. I wanted a place to unplug and unwind and this location was perfect. My cabana was lovely and inviting. I slept well each night (the bed was firmer than I was expecting, but was still very comfortable.) The restaurant serves what I would describe as "Home Cooked" food. This isn't a 5 star restaurant with stunning menu items, however, it was still very good food and cocktails at fair prices when compared to where I stayed in Cancun (Canopy at La Isla, a Hilton Hotel). I had a relaxing massage and spent a lot of time in a hammock in the pool. I would choose to stay at Okaan if I come back to Mexico because it was by far the most peaceful place I stayed at during my entire trip. I fell asleep to the sounds of frogs and cicadas, and woke to the sound of birds each morning. I rented a car in Cancun and drove myself to the hotel, and to Chichen Itza. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Be forewarned, the wifi only functions in the office and the restaurant, so if you're planning on working during your visit this might not be the place for you. However, if you want to truly unplug and enjoy a relaxing time in the Yucatan, this is the best place.
