If this place does it right it could be a real in-demand destination very soon. From what we gathered from the receptionist this place has been under new owners for about 6 months and while it somewhat shows (currently has an unfinished feel to it in some places), it was a great value for us. We were greeted with a short tour of the property and a beermosa (which I have to say is a small touch that feels VERY important for feeling welcome and valued). In early December for whatever reason, the hotel was basically empty--I think there were only one or two other rooms occupied and we saw almost no other guests at any point. THE ROOM: The rooms are beautiful. The bed frames are gorgeous elaborate reed structure. They do however make getting in and out of bed a bit difficult and noisy which is less than ideal when trying to not wake someone sharing the bed. Our bathroom door also had a horrendous creak that could wake the dead, but it's nothing a little WD-40 couldn't fix. The mini fridge is stocked with beers from the adjoining brewery and are welcome to be imbibed free of charge, another really nice touch. Shower is sufficient and has a fully closing door (although watch for the water temperature--we barely twisted the hot water knob and it was nearly scalding). There is a large TV and a security lock box. One thing we noticed while here is that the hotel door mag locks still need to be hooked up, so the only way to lock the door from the inside or outside was with the key, and you are only provided with one key. My partner had a bit of a panic when I was off getting something from the car and she wanted to leave the room and couldn't until I came back with the key. Definitely a scary thing if there was a fire and contributes a bit to the slightly unfinished feeling. AMENITIES: There is a large pool in the main courtyard with loungers around it; the water was quite cold but it might have been because it was an overcast day in December. There is a smaller pool on the 3rd floor roof that was more intimate and had a great view of the surrounding jungle. There appear to be two fancier penthouse options on the 3rd floor that have their own private hottub-sized soaking pools. There is also a crows nest viewpoint above the 3rd floor accessed from the roof for excellent sunset views. There is a spa with services available but we found out that you have to call and request to reserve those services at least a day in advance. RESTAURANT/FOOD & DRINK: This restaurant is the fanciest place we ate during our entire stay, and the prices reflect that (although still very reasonable by US standards for such a nice place, and I'm sure there are many Tulum-adjacent places with higher prices). The quality of the food, service, and drinks were EXCELLENT. You can try the other beers that the brewery makes besides the lager that you can find all over Tulum (and in your room's mini fridge), the cocktails are tasty and imaginative (multiple of them have very invent
