26-28/12 room 103 We three middle aged guys from London were touring Yucatan for the third time. We saw this hotel/hostel Combi on Bg dot com (booking the same morning in Playa) and were intrigued. It looked like a good deal off season although not central but it was close to a supermarket. We booked an ensuite room with two doubles beds. We arrived at around 14:30 after a twenty minute walk from the bus station. A friendly receptionist checked us in. The decor was bright and relatively minimalist, not what we expected from a hostel. The receptionist took us to the ground floor room 103 to show how the key worked (the lock had been forced whenever and the whole handle was wobbly). On entering we found there were no clothes hangers so asked the receptionist for some. He returned very quickly with about a dozen! The room was a good size with large wall to wall/floor to ceiling windows with full blackout curtains. A sliding door led to a terrace overlooking a stony courtyard with plant, quite pleasant to sit outside on the string chair with a small matching table. The general theme seems to be black string and rope which seems to be traditional. 32inch LED LG Smart TV with Totalplay 4K stb provides lots of Spanish channels, a few American news and one European Spanish channel. No BBC. Lots of smart channels including Disney, Apple, Amazon Prime, Netflix and YouTube. Remember to log out after! The streaming occasionally stuttered but no big deal. The erratic and random advertising was more of a problem! There was an efficient remote controlled A/C unit above the tv. There was a long wooden double shelf below the TV which was just enough for some belongings. There was an electric mains double socket in the middle of lower one and other sockets occupied by the stb and tv. A tips basket was at the end but I prefer to stripping the beds, collating the used towels, tying up the rubbish in bags and cleaning the mirrors before leaving the apartment/room. This makes the cleaner's job a bit easier! In the centre of the ceiling was a lamp with a collapsible (centrugal?) fan. There were also two overhead ceiling lights controlled from the bed too. However, there were no back or bedside lights on the large headboard. There were two double beds with sheets and an optional bedspread, plenty of fresh towels, a central built in table with two electric and two usb sockets which were useful for device charging. There were no separate tables on either side which would have been useful as there are not enough surfaces for two or four people to store things. There was a built in shelving unit opposite the toilet which we found too late. Most of our stuff ended up on the floor which was clean but that's not the point. The beds were firm and comfortable and the nights were quiet as it was off season. The shower was good, as solid large walk-in space with a glass door separate from sink area so the mirror was not misted up. There was unfortunately a leak in
