Camping Baalse Hei

On arrival we were told we were on motorhome pitches which were perfectly fine but had no shade in the heatwave. We were told that we needed 50c for the showers and hot water to wash up is 20c and given a card for the car park. It came to time to get ready for bed and we all got ready and set off to the shower block only to discover we needed tokens, not 50c coins as we were told. It had been a scorching day and so we had to shower in our caravans, lucky we had them as it had been a read hot day. The toilets are in the same space as the washing up facilities. The ladies face onto the washing up sinks so the ladies can hear people washing up and vice versa!! No privacy whatsoever as the toilet doors are like shed doors with gaps at the top and bottom. There are no handwashing facilities other than one tiny basin outside the block or the washing up sinks. There is no soap in any of the toilets (both blocks) although there are signs asking you to wash your hands with soap. I took my hand-wash to the loo as I find this disgusting. The bar is very expensive €5+ for a standard size slush puppy. 2 slushies and 2 ice creams came to €16!! The lake is great on a hot day but looks really murky. I took a water bottle to the lake in the hope of being able to fill it but there are no facilities anywhere, other than the tap at your campsite so I had to walk all the way back and find the tap. It would be good to have some dotted around as there are many sports and cycle routes around the site. I would stay again as it was not awful but really it could be much better with a bit more consideration of guests needs for a healthy holiday.

Ondanks de zure opmerking van de meneer hierboven. Heerlijke camping waar je echt tot rust kan komen. (bijna) elke dag kinderanimatie. Zwemvijver, visvijver, zwemvijver voor de hond, grote speeltuinen, oneindig veel wandel en mtb parcours. Vlakbij Turnhout centrum, verbonden met een mooie route langs het kanaal Dessel-Schoten.
