What a fantastic place to stay Haji and his staff could not do enough for us and made you feel 'at home', 15 out of 10!!!!! for friendliness and the way they looked after us. The tropical gardens were beautiful and it was great to walk down to the pool on the beach where there was a laid back bar for enjoying a drink before dinner

The Lodge is wonderful in its own way. Not a beach resort, but a mangrove garden. Many fantastic flowers and great accommodations. The central reception/bar/restaurant was very fun and beautiful. The owner is friendly and full of great suggestions for activities. However the drive to the place was full of huge potholes whichb were often full of rainwater. I was honestly scared to get out of the taxi, when we arrived in the dark and there was not a well-lit or well- managed welcome area.

We visited the Mangrove Lodge for our honeymoon looking to unwind after some adventures on the mainland. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful place to relax in Zanzibar, this is it. Even if the lodge was fully booked, you hardly notice any of the other guests. The whole resort is spacious and the layout lends itself to privacy. The staff were incredibly friendly and accomodating, the rooms were clean, spacious, and the outdoor showers were cool! The food is delicious, and you might even spot a bush baby or colobus monkey hanging out while you indulge!

Beautiful secluded paradise, private Beach . Amazing infinity pool. Very remote which adds to the chsrm , no tourist. Charming owners ,only 10 Rooma - close to stown town . Gorgeous groubds and Beach club , lots of activities available , exeptional

Very peaceful. Beautiful gardens and sunset from the beach bar area. Nice and spacious bungalows. Good food. Great hosts. Family run business in the middle of nature. Very good for relaxing. Nice chill area. Free and tasty tea and coffee throughout the day at the restaurant. Only downside were the many mosquitoes.

The Mangrove Lodge is set in expansive, beautiful gardens. The rooms are two together in spacious cottages, nicely decorated in Zanzibari style with well functioning airconditioning. Unfortunately no wifi in the room (it is available in the restaurant and at the beach). Food is very good and not expensive to Western standards, but takes a long time to prepare … think at least one hour. Therefore dinner orders are already taken in the afternoon. There is a menu of transportation and excursions, executed aa agreed although some unclarity about the cost (which could be resolved). Very nice pool/beach area with great beach bar. The road to the lodge is very bumpy, not inviting one to leave the lodge too often for excursions etc.

Good food. Not good beach, only pool. Terrible dirt road to reach; hectic for every day excursion trip. As often in Zanzibar, local staff is exploited. We recommend to find another place for a smooth traveling.

Our experience staying at Mangrove was absolutely phenomenal. We really appreciated the ECO friendly environment and the focus on eliminating waste. The rooms were very clean, spacious, and all around very nice. The staff was also amazing and took steps to make our Honeymoon celebration spectacular and memorable. Additionally, the on location restaurant has great food with a lot of variety including local dishes to try. I would highly recommend the Mangrove Lodge to anyone who is looking for a nice place to relax and take in the Zanzibar sun while still being relatively close to Stone Town. PS - get an outfit made from the local tailor, you won't be disappointed.
