Pikk's Inn was selected for its downtown Valparaiso location. It has two upstairs rooms available. The Louis Horn Room since it had a pull out couch, which was requested since I was vacationing with my adult daughter. No one responded to our call when we arrived (a little after 3 PM as expected) but we were let in and provided a key by a gentleman cleaning the downstairs restaurant, which hadn't opened for the day. The Room was charming, spacious, and well appointed with antiques. I had king bed, while my daughter opted for the pull out couch in the main room. No linens or covers for the couch were in the room. We found sheets and pillowcases in a room down the outside hall. Other than no in-room couch bedding and temporary lack of communication to check in, a few issues: the toilet lid right hinge was broken which caused inconvenience to raise the seat; Shortly after we unpacked, an employee entered without knocking (she thought we hadn't gotten arrived yet); We couldn't get some stations on the TV due to lack of wi-fi connection ("ehternet or wifi not connected"); We were given a password by a waitress downstairs (who processed my credit card payment for the room earlier) for "PikksGuest" yet there was no available PikksGuest network among the setting options available. On the plus side, the location is in the heart of downtown Valpo. There are several nice restaurants within easy walking distance. There is very convenient parking at the rear of the building for those who stay at the Inn. Notes: There are 22 stairs to get up to the rooms - it may be challenging for elderly or those with breathing issues. (if there was an elevator anywhere I sure didn't see it) The most recent Tripadvisor review I found was from four years ago. For a Thursday night in August, we paid $180 total including tax.
