A (long) review! Everything I could think to comment on. Just got home yesterday! If you're not sure which resort in Cuba to go to, go to this one! Stories from the airport on the way home indicate we had a way better Cuba experience than others did! Not really anything negative to say about the resort :) The Room We were in building 14 in a junior suite. Other than a bit more space (maybe? I didnt see any other rooms, not totally sure it was worth the upgrade). It seems to have been the farthest from dinning and/or the beach, but oh well! We're a young(er) couple and don't mind the steps. The garden is lovely, and we did have a view of it from ground level. The only bugs seen in the room were the flying kind, likely due to the patio door being open or flowers left by housekeeping. And one ant. Suggestion; if flowers are left by housekeeping, move them outside to your patio. I was definitely getting bitten by something at the beach. Bring bug spray, and apply regularly. Also, After Bite! On the first day, the room did smell a bit moldy, but after housekeeping on the second day, the smell was gone. I think our room hadn't been used for a bit, as the toilet wasn't filling either. Maintenance had it fixed within 15 min of notifying the front desk. Our housekeeper (Natalie) left cute notes and really cute and sometimes funny towel sculptures for us in the room. There's a bit of a language barrier with housekeeping, but between my little bit of Spanish, and her tiny bit of English, I seriously wanted to take her home with us. The power situation for charging (canadian) electronics was a bit dicey. We brought converters, but they only sometimes worked, and would often get quite warm, or not work at all. Not sure if they was an issue with the converter or the power flow, or (most likely) user error. The rooms are quite cool (end of Jan/Early Feb). We turned the AC off completely for the duration. When it was on, it got way too cold in the room. Had to open the balcony doors to warm it up! There's no dresser; we ended up using the shelves in the closet and our packing cubes to keep clothing organized. There are a number of hangers in the room. We were able to hang up all the things that should be hung. There's also an iron to get rid of luggage wrinkles! I'm a picky pillow person, and I slept well! The rooms are a bit cool this time of year, and we pulled out the extra fleecy blanket in the room. If I'd brought one of my smaller fuzzy couch blankets from home to toss on top, I'd have zero complaints about sleep. Hubby was comfortable the whole time The hotel As stated above, we were the furthest from the beach and also dining! Even so, it wasn't really that far. The lobby and the lobby bar are both esthetically very nice and functional. The lobby bar is the worst kept secret of the hotel. It seems they always have good bartenders there who can make a delicious cocktail. Suggests of course are daiquiris with whatever fresh fruit juice
