The Royal Hotel

The hotel is well situated and the staff, rooms and food were all brilliant. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was serviced daily. Bar drinks are reasonably priced and food tasty. I swam in the pool most days and enjoyed it.

A really relaxing and traditional hotel. We stayed here last year for four nights and decided we hadn’t seen enough of the island and so happy with the hotel we’ booked for a week this June. Lovely room which catered for my wife’s slightly limited mobility. There are lifts to many ( all ? ) rooms. There were two shallow steps down from reception to the bar. But there was a large foyer area where afternoon teas and some other food was served where drinks could be had. I didn’t see a ramp in use up for the one step up from outside to reception but there were a few guests in wheelchairs in the hotel, so one may be available or another option. There is also at least one room with a fully accessible shower. Staff were lovely and really helpful, volunteering to help without being asked. Cannot fault anyone, well maybe the very new barman who didn’t get the cocktail quite right and put in too much of the key alcoholic ingredient on our first night :). The food is wonderful in quality , presentation and portion sizes. Choice was wide as well, especially breakfast. The one comment we had was that the vegetable accompaniment to the fish of the day remained the same all week even though the fish varied and was never the same all week. Afternoon teas looked amazing although we didn’t try one. Our appetites just couldn’t manage that and dinner. There is a quiet more or less enclosed garden with a pool, a covered veranda and some other lawn areas where there are tables and chairs etc to relax. We would be happy to go back.

We stayed 2 nights and had afternoon tea. The hotel is beautiful and all the staff were lovely. Highly recommend.

A hotel that welcomes you and is glad to see you return. You are well looked after from the minute you walk through the door. Restaurant is excellent at both ends of the day.

We have just had a very pleasant 2nd stay at The Royal Hotel. On arrival we were given a Room upgrade with views over the garden and sea. The staff are very friendly, professional and make you feel special. We ate both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant where the food was amazing ( we are vegetarians and there was a very good selection to choose from) We look forward to staying again in the near future.

This was our fourteenth visit to the Royal Hotel Ventnor, and as always the Food, Facilities and Hospitality from the staff was superb

Ventnor is currently a nightmare for a visitor - closed roads, etc everywhere and the Royal is not easy to find - if you haven't booked a parking space then be prepared for a slog uphill to the main car park. We asked for an easily accessible room, with a walk in shower - but access was via lift, narrow corridors and 2 fire doors before bedroom with a Yale lock! When did you last find a modern quality hotel with Yale locks with keys and heavy metal tags? All doors as far as we could see (to bathrooms etc as well as the main entry to the room) with ordinary bolts on inside, unopenable from outside in an emergency. Friendly, helpful staff could do nothing to change our room. Food excellent, Ferry bookings efficient and our stay cut from 7 to 4 nights, as the view from our room was of a blank wall and the Car Park - nothing to cause us to stay longer. Gardens very pleasant. BUT what H&S would say, I wonder.

We are a car club of 23 people visiting the island for the weekend. The hotel excelled in every way to ensure our members had a a wonderful time to relax and enjoy the IOW. Our club was given a dedicated parking area across from the Hoel and all our ferry costs were included in our price deal.. Well done
