Mountain Whisper

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at mountain whisper. The amenities and speciousness in our accommodation were very comfortable and clean. The views over the mountains were outstanding, most of all, we really enjoyed the pure serenity of the area. All the staff were most friendly and helpful. And to Sonia, thank you for making our stay such a success!

What an amazing place. We went as a family just for a short break and had a great time. Easy to deal with and book, Very clean and upmarket rooms, breakfast was great. Looking forward to returning in the future for a longer stay. Highly reccomended.

Entering this ancient xisto town with its steeps hills and adorable cobble stoned streets was incredible. Cars are parked at the entrance of the village, and we proceeded on foot for the next 100 meters to get to the room. It felt like traveling 100 years back into time, it was fantastic. The elevation of the location is pretty high, which means the views of the surrounding area are breathtaking. All you will hear here are birds chirping and the rustle of leaves. The staff is very welcoming and everyone made sure our room was tidy, and that we had everything we needed. The breakfast options are numerous and the quality was very good. Having access to a pool was refreshing in the midday heat. It's very easy to visit Coimbra from here. We really enjoyed our stay and we hope to visit again soon! A magical spot in the mountains of Lousã. Amazing that there are mountain bike and hiking trails right into the village of Gondramaz. No dinner during the week at the moment, but bring dinner up with you or drive down into Miranda de corvo to get dinner. Delicious breakfast though!

If you like one of a kind exoeriences with 4* accommodations this is the place! We loved the drive into the mountains and then the surprise of arriving at a restored medieval shale village! Our apt, Maria, was perfect. It had an ultra modern interior, very comfy bed and barh, full kitchen, infinity pool, and a gorgeous view. I wish that we could have stayed longer to hike the trails. And breakfast was excellent!

I have loved my stay at Casa Carlos. The apartment is just wonderful, very clean, decorated with excellent taste, great views, and excellent facilities (the warmed floor is a very welcome touch, especially in the Winter season). The staff were also very kind and always available to help. I loved the atmosphere of the village, although it seemed a bit more of a "labyrinth" when comparing to other Schist villages in the region, and there really isn't a separation between villagers houses and the guests houses, which decreases a little bit the sense of privacy one might expect from this type of tourism, although nothing to be overtly concerned about. Only points for improvement in my opinion are: - Breakfast: it would be great if instead of using supermarket products, management would think of establishing deals with local producers to provide fresh local products. It's not that the breakfast was awful, but the bread, cheeses and drinks were not as good as one might expect. Juices in particular were clearly "boxed" juices, which are not as appealing as natural ones. - Parking availability: It is very difficult to find a parking spot in the entry of the village, and even though there is a parking facility in the village, it's not nearly big enough to fit all guests. - The air conditioner box for Casa Carlos is placed in the room balcony, which makes a constant and annoying sound, therefore defeating the purpose of calmness that the scenery around suggests. Fortunately the isolation of the room is pretty good, which made the issue less difficult to handle in sleeping hours, but in our case, as we enjoyed the view and wanted to spend more time in the balcony, it became a bit of an annoyance. These are the only points I find that could have made our stay even more pleasurable, however, I have to say that none of these made us not to want to return, so whenever we decide to spend some more time in Serra da Lousã, we will surely return to Mountain Whisper (although we may choose a different house, due to the previously mentioned issues with the noise air conditioner).

The village is absolutely stunning and the hotel is just great; wonderful view, quite and excellent service! The house we stayed was very cozy, located right next to the poll, we even had the chance to see real wild life like a fox!

Everything about this place is magical. The mountain views, the shale houses, the people, the staff (everyone was super nice!). The breakfast is really good, and taking it overlooking the mountain just made it that more special (and tasty!). The room (we stayed at Casa da Nogueira) was just perfect: the bed was really super cozy, the kitchenette very well equipped and the bathroom clean and well lit. The fireplace is the cherry on top, providing a really comfy setting for the apartment. Additionally, the design of the place and its contents is super tasteful and modern, but also in line with the surround environment of calm, quiet mountain beauty. On top of all of the amazing things within the apartment alone, being able to walk out of this little corner into the refreshing mountain air and the wondrous peaks and hills of Serra da Lousã is just a pleasure beyond belief. An experience to repeat for sure!

Beautiful luxury in a tiny village. The village feels ancient, the lovely accommodations as modern as can be. The suite was beautifully furnished with a comfortable bed and high quality linens and towels. Spacious for 2, and had everything we could want or need. A most amazing value, with very reasonable rates. The Mountain Whisper provides a delicious and beautifully served breakfast, with the menu customized according to your preferences. They also can prepare delicious “tapas” that they will deliver to your room. We ate lunch out and had the tapas for our dinner to avoid driving the narrow, curvy mountain roads after dark. Margarida was so helpful with restaurant reservations and suggestions. The other staff were helpful and friendly as well. Enjoy!🌻
