After a day out, I arrived back to the hotel around 11 pm. There were no parking spaces available in the lot. There were also a few cars in the lot that did not have guest tags. When I went to the desk to inquire, I was told I had to go about two blocks away to a lot to park my car and walk back. I am a woman, ‘of a certain age’ and was traveling solo. I expressed that I was not comfortable doing that. I also shared that there appeared to be non-guests taking up some spots. The man at the desk simply repeated that I should go park in the other lot and walk back. In regards to the alleged non-guests, he just said “I guess we’ll have to check that out”. When I again said that I was not comfortable walking alone down a dark street at that hour, he just told me again that I had to go to the other lot. Thankfully, a young lady behind the desk heard our conversation and volunteered to go to the lot and walk back with me.
I think that asking an older, female, solo traveler to walk down a dark street at 11pm by herself is unacceptable. I paid enough for my stay to expect that I would have a parking space in the lot.
