Worth House Bed and Breakfast

Not sure why this place gets the marks it does but I guess we're all different. It was okay, the room felt somewhat tired decoratively and the (electric) shower wasn't up to much though the bed was comfortable. The room was cold when we arrived as the heating hadn't been put on which didn't help. The breakfast was good and sizeable with plenty of choice. Parking no issue.

Standing just outside the village of Wookey on a main road, the hotel is in an excellent position to explore the surrounding area. There are three pubs within walking distance or a short drive. The city of Wells is just two miles down the road. The house itself is a large period building with lots of charm. There is a comfortable guest lounge where you can buy, via ‘honesty book’, alcoholic beverages. All the rooms are up a couple of flights of stairs. The rooms are sympathetically decorated, in keeping with the building. Our room was a nice size with a comfortable double bed, overlooking the garden. Breakfast is served downstairs in the dining room. All tastes are catered for and even the most discerning palate should find something suitable. Your hosts, Sarah and Nick, are most welcoming and are your source for great local knowledge. We thoroughly recommend Worth House as a comfortable and friendly place to stay, in an ideal location for local attractions.

If you want to visit Wells without giving up the pleasure of sleeping in a relaxing country residence, this is the perfect solution. Not even 10 minutes' drive from the city centre, Worth House is a beautiful residence surrounded by fields and pastures, with beautiful common areas and a pleasant breakfast room. The room is really comfortable as well (despite the negligible inconvenience of the sink located in the bedroom, outside the bathroom). The friendliness and courtesy of the hosts also contribute to making the stay pleasant!

Great B & B, Hosts are friendly and very helpful, they booked us a lift to the pub and also booked the meal for us. There is an array of food for breakfast including hot and cold. Room was comfortable and had everything you needed. The setting and grounds are stunning, there is also ample parking. Would highly recommend Worth house and would not hesitate to stay there again. We booked here for a 2-night day whilst visiting a friend near-by. We had a garden facing room with a lovely view and enjoyed watching the rabbits running in the meadow next door. Our room was comfortable and the bed was very good with both of us getting a good night’s sleep. Our host Sarah was lovely and very welcoming. Breakfast was excellent - both cooked as well as cereals, juices, yogurts etc. Service was very good and we appreciated the fact that we didn’t have to wait a long time for our food. We wanted somewhere to stay to break up our journey from the midlands down to Devon and after a little bit of research we decided to book Worth House due to its great reviews and proximity to Cheddar Gorge and Wells. I now understand why it has so many five star reviews. We were a bit early for check in but no problem. We were met by Flavia who was very friendly and chatty. She showed us up the Loft room which is very spacious with great views over the fields to the rear of the property. The last flight of stairs up to the room is a bit steep and twisty but then it opens out and you get a bit of a wow factor with the amount of space and the sloping ceilings. The bathroom is also very spacious. After making use of the tea making facilities we then bumped into Sarah on our way out to explore Wells. Within no time she had offered to replenish the milk stocks with fresh milk in the little fridge in the room, made recommendations of where to eat that evening, said she would make the booking, and given advice on what to look for in Wells and where to park! She also advised going to evensong (5.15pm) in the Cathedral that evening which was a great suggestion. Hearing the choir was very impressive. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and the full English sourced with local ingredients. We will definitely be back in the future.
