The hotel is well located in the centre of town however parking and access by car was a big problem; we had to park a mile away. Our room (and those of other travellers) wasn't ready on arrival. The room was in the main building; the bed was comfortable and the room had usual amenities. The shower was a little dated. We used the bar which was comfortable although overly busy due to two large parties booked in for events that evening. The bartender, Micky, coped really well with the large number of customers from the events. Breakfast included a good choice of hot and cold options and service was good. We felt the hotel tariff was over-priced even allowing that we visited for the Christmas market in December.

We’ve just completed 3 nights at the Mercury Winchester. We chose the hotel as it was the cheapest hotel with closest proximity to the city centre. As someone with the mantra “ I spend more time in the city than I do the hotel” I was not expecting the Ritz. Location is 10/10, within 100yds you are in the high street and right at the beginning of the local market when it is on. It’s worth noting that when the market is happening they close one of the main roads leading to the hotel so you would have to use a back route. Our Sat Nav took us down the road the market takes place so would have been a problem had it been market day. The hotel itself is tired and our “privilege room” was plentiful with stained carpets & even child pen scrawl on the wall. That aside the TV was large & bed & bathroom clean. We had a view of the cathedral & a mini fridge stocked with a couple of bottles of water & bottles of Pepsi. Breakfast was satisfactory but nothing special. The staff throughout our stay were very nice and we had no issues. Parking isn’t great, the small covered car park is a little tight to manoeuvre & at £15 per day very expensive. In summary if we came back to Winchester we certainly wouldn’t discount the Mercure as an option but it would be dependent on whether we could get a better price elsewhere.

The location is perfect and walking distance to main sites. The Japanese restaurant is also wonderful. The room is clean and spacious. However, data access and wifi is limited. Overall it was a very wonderful experience staying at Kyoto room

I had a lovely overnight stay at the Old Vine hotel. I was visiting Winchester to visit the cathedral and I couldn't have picked a more central location with easy access to the cathedral. I was put in the Zoffany Room at the front of the hotel and despite being over the pub and dining rooms I didn't experience any distracting noise from the patrons downstairs and being at the front of the hotel gave a nice view onto the cathedral grounds. The room was spacious and well proportioned, fully of character and charm and had all the amenities you'd expect. The bed was large and comfortable as were the arm chairs. The bathroom was also of a very generous size, very clean with a good sized combined bath and shower. My only suggestion to the hotel may be to move away from small individual single-use plastic bath products to improve environmental sustainability. The breakfast was served downstairs in the main pub dining area, which was welcoming but not overly busy. The breakfast itself was very good. Great local ingredients in my vegetarian full English breakfast. The staff were all lovely and very helpful, friendly and professional. I'd be very happy to stay here again if I were to visit Winchester in the future.

Lovely hotel and spa . Only let down was the car park attached to hotel only has one way in , no exit very very dangerous there was four of us grid locked inside it. Lucky we were all good drivers and managed to exit . There is a public one outside , but hotel car park is very limited and dangerous hardly any room inside , weird old shape and reverse driving more than forward . Hotel are cash less and there attitude was.... ah na , sorry cashless system . Shop up road. that's all they could offer don't give a dam how you park. Also took 160 deposit and will return sometime after. At later date. That was the real letdown reception staff.. .. not my problem attitude was poor. While the people that did get in hotel carpark was lucky to pay at reception off there deposit. Such poor service for such a lovely hotel. Apart from that the rest good.

We stayed here on Thursday night for one night. Having been to a show In Portsmouth we arrived quite late. The hotel itself was on an industrial site, not really well signposted but easy enough to find. The carpark was small and quite hard to park due to how spaces are laid out. And having to pay for parking in a hotel really annoys me. (They always blame the land being owned by someone else.). The night porter was friendly enough, but didn’t seem to have much of a clue. The room: We paid for a Premium Plus room. Honestly not worth the money we paid. It didn’t seem any different to the normal rooms apart from the coffee machine and fridge. There were only a couple of pods for the coffee machine and a couple of tea bags, but no milk or sugar, so had to go back to reception to get them. The bathroom was ok, but the shower seal was mouldy and dirt around the shower door. The carpet (although hoovered) was really dirty and stained (shame slippers were not provided). The door to the fridge hung off of the hinges when you opened it, the office style chair was broken, the windows would not open, even a little and the vanity mirror in the room was not very bright. Having said this, the bed was a standard premier inn comfy bed and we slept reasonably well, although I did wake up cold in the night. The restaurant was nice, quite spacious, and funny watching people scrambling for seats. The selection of hot and cold was very good, the only thing letting it down was the scrambled eggs. And the restaurant staff were all really nice and friendly. I would stay here again if I had to, but I’d arrive earlier and not pay the extra for the upgrade, really not worth it!
This elegant 17th-century country house hotel in Winchester stands in 63 acres of beautiful Hampshire parkland. As you sweep into the courtyard, delicate archways and loggias frame the picture perfect entrance and a small amble reveals a beautiful 12th century chapel ruin. Lainston House features 50 elegant bedrooms, The Avenue Restaurant and Wellhouse Restaurant, a well equipped gym, 2 tennis courts, WiFi throughout the hotel and even its own ducks. The individually styled and designed en suite bedrooms at Lainston House are full of character, some rooms featuring an elegant four-poster bed or roll-top bath. All are fully equipped with spa toiletries, tea/coffee facilities and amazing extras like the pillow menu. The award-winning 3 AA Rosette Avenue Restaurant serves a modern British menu of local, seasonal produce, with fresh herbs and vegetables from the kitchen garden. Afternoon tea is available, along with al fresco dining on the Terrace, while The Cedar Bar has an impressive cocktail list. Located near the historic Winchester, Southampton Docks and villages of Overton and Laverstoke, there’s plenty to see and do in the local area as well.

Mengmeng's trip to the UK this time is a self-driving tour, so we went to some very niche attractions and checked in a very special five-star manor hotel. One of my favorite hotels is the Lanstern Hotel next to Southampton. The quaint manor really has the sense of being a movie blockbuster, and bicycles can be rented, and then take a circle in the surrounding forest. It feels great!
⛄⛄⛄
The coordinates of the hotel are SO212LT. It is about 7 minutes drive to Winchester Cathedral and about 25 minutes drive to Southampton. The entire hotel was converted into a 17th-century manor. So the biggest feature is that it is particularly large. According to the steward, it covers 63 acres! It took us more than half an hour to shuttle through the hotel's corridors without even finishing. In addition, the hotel was hung with oil paintings of the Louis period, and a lot of antique furniture was placed. So I often watch European and American novels and movies always feel a little bit cold. Coupled with the surrounding forest, unknown birds such as cuckoos have been calling, adding a little fear.
⛄⛄⛄
The environment is really beautiful, I feel a little afraid that it is actually my psychological role! In fact, the occupancy rate is particularly high, not only foreigners, but many British people like to live in such a manor hotel! The decoration of the room is very elegant and new, with about 50 rooms. The style of each room is different. Some rooms have a British four-poster bed! The bathtub in the room is also equipped with a TV and a spa. Bath products are also very high-end brands!
⭐⭐⭐
The mascot of the hotel is an owl. This hotel not only has an owl puppet in the room, but the hotel owner really has an owl! You can pay for feeding the owl, and train her to fly to your arm. It's just that Owl Cafe is everywhere in Japan, so we didn't train raptors, and families with children can try it.
🥘🥘🥘
Be sure to boast that the hotel breakfast is really delicious! It was later discovered that this restaurant was an award-winning restaurant, using local produce and herbs and vegetables grown in the hotel's back garden. During our trip to the UK, the breakfast we chose in each hotel was a full English breakfast. But only the black mushrooms in this hotel are particularly thick, probably picked from the nearby forest! Bacon and ham are not too salty. It ’s enough. I ate a CD! Dinner is delicious too! There is also a 24-hour room service.
🌲🌲🌲
The hotel's front yard, backyard, and corridors are particularly suitable for taking photos. There is a tennis court ahead. The parking lot is an English garden. The price of this hotel is really very suitable, five-star service, but the double room only costs 900 yuan, and also includes double breakfast. If you are driving near Winchester, I highly recommend staying here!

Staff excellent especially Abby on Reception, so welcoming and nothing too much trouble. Perfect welcome. Spacious room, excellent bathroom spotlessly clean. Excellent location. Electric heater made room perfectly warm. Bar and entrance area excellent. Loved the style and quirkiness - reminded us of Canadian hotels ( quality of some much worse ) and Disney Wilderness Lodge. Perfect. Breakfast excellent. Dinner not so much. This is not a Boutique Hotel so perhaps the name Bespoke Hotels sets it up to fail, sadly. Yes it needs new mattresses and mattress covers are a MUST. Agree that dining room chairs need cleaning and much dusting required. It could be so much better - just TLC - But no where near as bad as the horrible reviews which nearly out us off. We Loved It !! Can't wait to come back....Thank You :) :) :)

Excellent
GGuest UserMy husband and I enjoy our visits to this lovely, characterful pub. The only comment I wanted to make was about the desserts, that although presented beautifully, I don’t find as satisfying as last year. I think the new ‘buffalo?’ Ice-cream is too light and lacking in substance. It feels more like a diet option, I understand it would appeal to some. The chocolate torte-like dessert tasted nice but was too hard to get the spoon through the lower section without it shooting off the plate. Sticky toffee pudding with sautéed banana was delicious but again, a different option to the ice-cream that feels like sorbet would be great. The puddings are expensive but of high quality, but one expects to feel satisfied and full after one. The peaches were delicious but again the ice-cream too light and ultimately unfulfilling.
MMeander44089487110We arrived very close to end of service in the restaurant but were made very welcome. The staff were friendly, informative & careful as we had caeliac & gluten intolerant people in our party. Our only real disappontment. Having offered gluten items like fish & chips & having gone to effort to make gluten free batter, then foolishly cook it in same fryer as other gluten products. The staff were quick to point this out & quite rightly too as this would make us ill. By cooking in this manner, this should not be marked up gluten free. Your staff could offer chips for various meals as they cooked them carefully in the oven. A small seperate gluten free fryer or even an isolated air fryer would give you so many additional options to offer to your customers. I know gluten free flour is more expensive but bought in bulk, it could be used for so many meals, again opening up choice for allergy customers & so attracting them to your restaurant. As with fish/chips all customers could eat it. No loss of taste. And such flour used in quantity would add pennies or fractions of pennies to meal cost. You attract the allergy sufferers, you also bring in all their family & friends & earn a reputation to draw in their custom & spread the word that you cater especially well for allergy sufferers as well as offering a variety of good quality tasty food, reasonably priced. I hope you value this feedback as I'd really like to come back as atmosphere, location & service was excellent
GGuest UserThe hotel looks bright and modern, with a decent car park. The many many signs all over the place about fines if you don’t register your vehicle make the parking and hotel entry somewhat intimidating. If they are concerned about parking. Why not just have a barrier with a token from reception to exit? Reception was friendly and we had a room on the ground floor with a lovely view of a ****y bank of earth through a rather small window. The room was clean, well appointed but the ceiling lighting was awfully dim. The bathroom was clean but we didn’t feel that entry/exit from the bath was very safe if you had limited mobility. Dinner in the restaurant was extremely disappointing. The space is modern and the kitchen is open, but the service, though very friendly was extremely and embarrassingly slow. This needs to attended to. The place was not at all busy. In the end we went to the bar to get a drink to fill in the waiting time. Someone on a neighbouring table waited ages for a beer which was served flat and had to wait a long long time for a replacement. Our tear and share bread was so over cooked, we struggled to cut it with a pizza wheel. The fish and chips were very tasty and well presented. The tagliatelle was over cooked and the sauce completely tasteless. The only flavour in the dish came from the nice garlic prawns added as an extra. We decided against deserts as we anticipated another very long wait. While we were there a neighbouring table was re-occupied but was not sanitised between guests. This could have been so much better! Breakfast was easier because it’s self serve, but it was busy and the few staff were unable to keep pace so tables took a long time to be cleared and longer to be cleaned. We had to get our own cutlery as this job was also slow. Breakfast selection and quality was quite acceptable. We were happy with the hotel but it was badly let down by the extremely slow dinner service.
GGuest UserNot used Days Inn before and we were pleasantly surprised. Nice warm welcome and the room perfectly adequate for a one night stay. Yes, it does need refurbishment but for the money it’s good value.
In fact we will definitely use again en route to Southampton.
We got this deal for one night via Travelzoo. The experience was excellent. We were impressed with the site of the property and the hotel and its facilities overall. We used the spa and gym and my daughter had a massage which although expensive was very good. The evening meal was included in our deal and was very good and served in the restaurant which has a nice ambience and was not busy. We will come again in 2025. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. All the staff were professional.
