Popped in for a quick bite and a pint. Oh dear, not that sort if place. Bistro/tapas menu, no sandwiches or simple food. No kids options. This is a place you might pop into on your way to or from the west country, but like most of the people who did while I was there, they left and went elsewhere as nothing suitable on the menu. The location is fantastic for catching travelling trade. One look at the menu however and and back in the car an check out the local supermarket or the other pubs you will come across within a few minutes drive. I used to love this place but it is now a place out of time and totally wrong for locals or passing trade. In the middle of Dorchester it might have a place but its not there. Having said that, we stopped for a pint and a snack, the beer was not great but okay, I guess they don’t sell enough to look after it properly and the food was miserly but quite tasty. It might survive the summer but without a family friendly menu, I doubt it will survive in its present form. It is no longer a village pub in any sense of the word. In summary: Beer, good choice but average quality Food, avent garde with some good choices, maybe if you are staying locally for an evening meal. Good quality, tasty but limited for daytime passing trade.
