We stay here a couple of times a year due to location and price, the first couple of years was amazing. But our last two trips have been disappointing the first time I waited for a while to check in, once I found the bell to call for assistance a rather annoyed receptionist came in and asked “how can I help?” I replied by saying “Id like to check in please.” she then abruptly told me she was the only one in and over the other side of the hotel. I stood in silence because how else was I supposed to respond to the question. I have worked in customer service and know that there's more going on then just reception so I kept it moving and checked in. We came into our room covered in cobwebs, dust and hair in the bath room, the cherry on the cake was a large brown stain on one of our towels. My partner went to reception to explain what had happened the woman took notes and assured it would be dealt with even took the towel to bring it up in the morning meeting. We left it at that it was the first time we had any issue and there was no point in getting workers in trouble for something they were willing to resolve, hence no bad review. Now we come again this year to a dirty room stains on towels the bath I cleaned so I could use it. The dirty wasn't the only issue there was peeling paint in the bathroom, and the room just wasn't up to par. After being told the last time issues would be addresses I decided now I'd leave a review instead of talking to staff, I understand linen and towels are usually washed outside by a separate company but the housecleaning staff are the last defence and should check towels. They are the back bone of hotels your experience isn't just the receptionist it's the quality of cleaning, the attention to detail and for them to either be understaffed, untrained or not care about the quality of work is sad to see. I don't expect 4* but a clean room and towels is something I do for my house guests and they arent paying to stay. It's the bare minimum. We will not be returning I'd rather pay more and have clean towels then have to explain to a receptionist after a seven hour journey that it's not clean.
