You can't beat the location. It's right next to Zhonlou station. You can see the Bell Tower from the common area window. Muslim Quarter is across the street. It's a large hostel occupying two floors in a big building. At the subway station, exit either C or D and find the building with lots of phone stores, including Huawei. After entering, turn left and take the elevator to the 3rd floor reception. They have cleaners working day and night. Free filtered water. Towels provided. Common showers have hot water, shampoo and shower gel. Never a problem finding available shower or toilet. They provide slippers to use in sleeping rooms and each guest has his/her own cabinet for dirty outside shoes. Inside the rooms you use your card to lock and unlock your own secure small storage area. Each bed has privacy curtain, electrical socket, and places to hang stuff.

Location very near to Subway. Room was very clean. Even have free milk every night. All staffs are helpful. Can store your luggage also. Have washing machine. Thanks Desti Youth!!

Desti is an excellent hostel on all accounts. The dorm room beds are private and comfortable, with fresh clean sheets and towel. The bathrooms have many stalls for toilet and showering, complimentary shampoo & body wash, blow dryers, cotton swabs and combs.
The coffee was great and nice to be able to roll out of bed to go down for a cup, that was priced the same as neighborhood cafes.
Best of all the staff tries so hard to help travelers. Very few staff there spoke much English but two terrific staff worked tirelessly to help get my VPN and eSIM card working when I couldn’t get them working on my own.
Highly recommend this hostel.
Note: it’s really hard to see their sign especially if you arrive late at night as I did. It’s easy to walk right by the entrance. I circled the tiny sign in red, hope that helps some travelers.

Overall a good experience. The staff spoke good English and the facilities were well maintained. The bathroom was a bit dirty in the evening so I took off a point there.
It was hard to find as not a Mandarin speaker. You have to go inside the building and it almost looks like an abandoned mall. The reception is on the 3rd floor and if you see the fake Apple Store you’re in the right area.
Was 2 hours away from the Terracotta warriors, 40 mins from the train station, and 1.25 away from the airport (all metro)
I would stay here again. This is a massive hostel so expect that ambience wise. The only thing is the smoking smell from the hallways. This is no smoking I believe but didn’t seem like it was followed in the building.
I wish the shower stalls were a little larger to put the change of clothes in but over all enjoyed my stay.

I booked a private room and the standard was better than most hotels! Room was very spacious, big enough for 2 people. It had towels and various amenities such as cotton buds, comb, shower cap, shower gel, shampoo. The staff were friendly and helpful (thank you for helping me book my ticket to terracotta warriors, and the lunch recommendation!). Some of the staff can speak/understand English, to a good standard. The common area had a friendly vibe too. Location was great, right next to bell tower, although a little difficult to find as no sign outside and no directions were given (its exit 7 Zhonglou station, building next to Huawei, up the black stairs, then lift to 3rd Fl). Overall, recommended and would stay here again.

This is THE hostel. Everything about my stay was absolutely perfect. The location was awesome: very close to the bell tower and the Muslim quarter, the staff was extremely helpful (they helped me plan my really quick stay + ordered an adaptor on the Chinese Amazon for me + helped me for laundry) and spoke a great English, the room and bathroom were clean, spacious and private, there was some soap in the shower, etc. It was also very social and they have a cafe. Basically you picture the perfect and ultimate hostel and this is it. Everything a hostel could need, they had. And on top of all of that, it was very affordable. Best rapport qualité prix ever. I don’t think it can get any better than that. L

The hotel had the perfect location! Was close to everything!
The only “bad thing” was the fact the room was next to the bathroom so we could hear every time someone coming in and out of the place (the doors noise).

This hostel is the best hostel I have ever stayed in China, so I would recomend everyone to search for "背包十年" hostel if you are a solo traveller. The public bathrooms are clean and the common facilities are nice.
