The hostel is located in the commercial center area of Ganzhou District, Zhangye City, Gansu Province, an ancient city with a history of two thousand years on the Silk Road. You can taste various traditional snacks within 100 meters of leaving the store. It is only a 7-8 minute walk from the Ming Dynasty architecture - Bell and Drum Tower - and the millennium old temple of the Western Xia Dynasty - the Great Buddha Temple, which is located in the city center. Within 150 meters of the hostel, there is the largest supermarket and shopping and dining center in the city, making it convenient for you to provide travel supplies and dining entertainment. The surrounding banks, pharmacies, cinemas, and other facilities are complete. We have prepared various room types for you in the store. Leisure bar, self-service kitchen, self-service laundry room (with hangers and drying area), public bathroom, public computer, and reading room are all available. WIFI full coverage, 24-hour hot water, wired large screen TV, newspapers, books, everything is available, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere. The hotel is equipped with a bicycle storage area, a car parking lot, a standardized safety monitoring system, and detailed and thoughtful itinerary planning as well as carpooling and chartering services. This place was so nice and super clean/tidy with a very cute aesthetic. There’s a resident cat named Pudding which is a nice novelty, and the hostel is in a great location walking distance to plenty of food, shops and sights. Rooms are spacious with big windows and the owner is so helpful. She speaks English and will send you a list of food recommendations for the surrounding area. They also helped us arrange plenty of sightseeing for a good price! Had a wonderful stay and would gladly go back.
Make sure you try the beef “rice” from the list, it’s so good!!

This has been one of the best places where we have stayed in China. Nice a**osphere, common areas for sharing, clean and beautiful rooms, washing machine and kitchen. And above all, wonderful staff that took care of us. Thank you ❤.
They can also organize trips to Danxia Mountains. Don't miss it!

Excellent hostel. This is a good base for visiting Zhangye since the hostel is located within town and walking distance of the Big Buddha / Da Fo temple and Wooden Pagoda and supermarket restaurants etc. I chose this hostel because it provided trips, shared car / car pool, to Zhangye Danxia Rainbow Mountain and Mati Si temple (and Pingshanhu etc) in clean well maintained comfortable cars / vehicles at reasonable, cheap, prices. Hostel staff were really helpful and gave directions to restaurants, called DiDi (China's version of Uber) to zhangye train station etc. Glad that I stayed here. Made my stay in Zhangye so easy. The only con is its a bit old and being a hostel, but the price made up for this. Stayed 3 nights and it was cheaper than one night at a good hotel. I would definitely recommend this hostel.

Good location, not so clean but correct. A lot of excursions suggested, very good, confortable and easy to visit the area !
Reception guys are very helping and nice.
The bad point is the noise of the people in the common area and speak loudly.

The staff was very friendly and they helped wherever they could. They even could speak english. The hostel had a nice a**osphere and nice decoration. The room was simple and the beds were a little bit too hard, but ok. We didn't like that some ameneties like for example the use of the kitchen costs extra. But apart from that our stay was very nice!

I’m glad I came to Zhangye! Reception is friendly in a nice way, speaks English. They also offer (half-)day trips / shared cars to the sightseeing areas which had excellent value for money and which I enjoyed a lot. The hostel is rather a simple one but clean, quite social and has character. It’s in walking distance to sights of the city, there are eateries and supermarkets around and bus connection to the railway stations is not far.

*the Silk Road Travelers Hostel* is a popular hostel with independent travellers. Its appeal lies in its ability to provide shared transport making it more affordable to visit inaccessible tourist sites like Zhangye Danxia and Maijishan grottoes.
The host and hostess are very approachable and ever willing to help with advice and tips to make your stay more comfortable.
The hostel is very clean and the location is superb. There are eateries everywhere. The famous Dafo Temple is within walking distance and it is possible to get around easily.
You have a pick of rooms from dorms to bedrooms with attached bathrooms which we opted for.
A good accommodation choice while visiting the area!
