The hotel employees all of them were showed a good attitude and communication was no problem for foreigners.
The location is great — it’s close to Kumamoto Castle, and there’s a shopping mall just about a 10-minute walk away.
I made a reservation for a triple room for two nights. The sofa bed was uncomfortable, and the air conditioner could not adjust the airflow direction, which caused us to catch a cold.
One more thing, the room key had to be returned and kept at the counter whenever we went out for the day.
Excellent stay at one station! First time and with it's perfect location it makes travelling around so convenient. Beside it it's Kumamoto Station and there is AMU Shopping mall just beside it. If you rented a car during your stay in Kumamoto, you may just park at the multi story carpark behind the hotel for just 1000 yen for 24hrs with multiple entries but you would have to head to hotel reception to get the coupon for it. Definitely a recommended stay in Kumamoto
This hotel is located in Aso district, up the mountain. Preferably to drive. Parking is complimentary. The room is spacious, with a living room and bathroom. Went for the onsen for hotel guests. It has indoor and outdoor onsen pools. I included 2 meals for my stay, breakfast and dinner. Worth the try for the buffet breakfast and dinner.
Hotel Nikko Kumamoto maintains very high standard of service. Greeters were always smiling at the hotel lobby and lift area. We were lucky to get a Room with Castle view. Location was perfect, right opposite Tsuruya Departmental Store and beside Shimotori shopping srreet. Breakfast spread was excellent. Highly recommended!
Nice cosy hotel. Very clean and easy to check in. Convenience store just across the road. 5 mins drive to a major shopping mall. Has a small stove to cook and kitchen. But really small and dark though.
Otherwise room is very cosy and fits four of us well. Bathroom is clean and nice. Washer in the room too.
I can jog to kumamoto castle which is nearby.
Great location and great hotel.
We enjoyed our stays (2 nights) here. It’s so close to bus station (Gion) only 100-150 m walk from the hotel. And 850m from Kumamoto Station. The hotel located in a quiet area, which we were expected. We walked from city center to the hotel on the last night of our stay. It’s enjoyable walk and windy that night. The view from our hotel room was incredible, we could see the mountains and the river along the city.
I had an enchanting two-night stay at this hotel, where the picturesque view of the river from my room added a serene touch to the experience. The included breakfast and dinner were nothing short of fantastic, offering a delightful journey through Japanese cuisine. The attentive service further elevated my stay.
The onsen was a highlight, boasting a spacious interior and a tranquil outdoor area. The immersion in the calming waters was a rejuvenating experience, and the overall ambiance added a profound sense of relaxation to my stay. Highly recommend for those seeking a blend of natural beauty, exceptional food, and attentive service.
We had a great stay at Kamenoi Hotel Aso Park. We booked a room in the South Building, which was spacious, clean, and had a large, comfortable bed. The hotel provides yukata robes in various colors, which was a lovely touch for guests to enjoy the onsen experience.
♨️ The onsen was large and relaxing — perfect after a day of exploring Aso.
🚗 Parking was very convenient, located right next to the hotel. Just across the parking area, there’s a 24-hour convenience store called Obentou Hirai offering ready-made bentos, hot meals, ramen, and udon — extremely convenient for late-night snacks or quick meals.
🍱 We chose a room-only package without meals, and in the morning, we visited the local souvenir and food center at Aso Station. It had a great selection of local foods and breakfast options, plus plenty of gifts and souvenirs to bring home.
Overall, a comfortable stay with everything we needed nearby. Highly recommended if you’re exploring the Aso area!
Nothing can be complained for me.
The staffs were very helpful.
A little fancy instagramable breakfast.
All attractions are near - Kumamoto Castle, Kumamon Square, Department & Convenient Stores, Walking street including restaurants.
Room design makes kids having fun and a good time.
All in all worth it.

Great
GGuest UserIt’s the first hotel that I’ve been to in Japan that had a normal check-in procedure through the receptionist rather than a machine, and you’re greeted upon entry. The location is so perfect and considering it’s right next to the train station, I didn’t hear a thing. Also the room for the price was very comfortable and spacious!
TTsubaki UmisachiThis is definitely a fabulous and fantastic experience living in a Ryokan, and this Ryokan is also reputable among local people, which means it is highly recognized by Hitoyoshi residents. Some local residents also spend their time in this Ryokan as a relaxing journey. I ordered the room with breakfast served, and it looked so amazing and delicate. I hope to visit here again in the near future if there will be any chances. I absolutely love this little town.

Great location and great hotel.
GGuest UserRoom is big & clean. Pillow not very comfortable. The shower room is small, good to have a shelf to put toilette. Staff are very friendly. They tried their best to communicate with us. Breakfast & dinner spread is very good. But almost similar range after 3 nights can be a little overwhelming. Onsen is good.
VVarnTeingKurokawa onsen was the highlight of my trip to Kyushu. So I splurged on this accomodation. I chose a room with river view and it was the best decision. Love the stay so much.
Staffs were lovely and helpful. They speak good English and Mandarin. Lobby was spacious. Plenty of spaces to chill and chat as a family.
The onsens were abundance to choose from.
Breakfast was awesome, so was dinner.
We got the room with 2 beds and 2 futons. We all enjoyed our stay so much
GGuest UserThe room was new and the service was good. You absolutely must try the complimentary 60-minute hot spring bath; although it's a large public bath, the environment is very comfortable. The location is a 3-minute walk from Suizen-ji Temple and about a 17-minute taxi ride from Kumamoto Castle. Breakfast and dinner were also delicious.
GGuest UserThe resort location is accessible actually by bus from tateno 立野 station and the last bus is in the evening you may check the timetable online. We did not drive and leaving the accommodation is less convenient because all taxis were booked out but the staff was very friendly as to driving us to the nearby train station to continue our journey to Aso Volcano.
Service was good. The private onzen was amazing and we were able to use it for one hour. The public bath was good too but the amenities they provided inside were not as enough, eg they don't have comb for ladies and make up removing pads. Other than that, cleanliness was amazing and staff were friendly, rooms had amazing Mountain View's.
OOliveycThis is a great hotel with a view of Kumamoto Castle right outside the window. You can also use points here. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and the parking lot is quite spacious.
JJiaojiaotouThis was my second stay here. It's less than a kilometer from Kumamoto Shinkansen Station, right next to the Shirakawa River. After leaving the hotel, you cross a bridge and can then take a leisurely stroll along the clean riverside path. Another bridge brings you to Kumamoto Shinkansen Station. The whole walk takes about 15 minutes. The hotel is a bit older, but overall it's still very clean and pleasant, and the breakfast is quite good. There's a Japanese restaurant called Korin next to the smoking room on the first floor, and the food is delicious. The rooms are pretty clean, and while the bathrooms are small, they're perfectly acceptable. In terms of location, it's certainly not as convenient as Bloom right next to Kumamoto Station. You won't find any convenience stores nearby; the closest one is a LAWSON about a 10-minute walk behind the hotel.
AAnonymous UserExcellent stay in Kumamoto! The hotel was clean, modern, and very comfortable. The room was well-maintained and surprisingly spacious, with all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to assist with any questions.
The location was convenient, with easy access to public transportation, restaurants, and popular attractions. Check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient, making the overall experience hassle-free.
Great value for money and one of the highlights of our trip to Kumamoto. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.
